Gap still increasing. But none of the other favorites have been at the front yet. Andy has been riding à bloc for an hour.

It could be they aren't looking to close the gap yet. Quite the gamble, but who knows...

Doubt that, they can still work now while it's flat, but in the last 15k they will get dropped anyway so they have to blow them up now while it's still sort of flat. They all got dropped on the last climb remember.

This is what Andy is best at though, a long effort at a high pace, remember how he won LBL and what he did this year in the AGR. He has quite good stamina as long as he can ride his own pace.

If they can hold out for just a few K it gets very hard for the chasers

Evans needs to ride now. It is his responsibility to bring it back if he wants to win. Contador can wait I think and go ballistic once it steepens up. Evans needs to get the time back on the valley floor

The Lautaret is a horrible climb - it's one long false flat 4% that goes on and on... it will be tough for everyone until they get on to the Galibier proper.

I don't thin it's Evans duty to chase. He is in great position. He only needs to have his team help ride a good pace.
