Sprint finish where those that can get over the climbs will win.

My Rankings:

*****
Hushovd, Rojas, Gilbert

****
Cavendish, Petacchi, Feillu, Farrar

***
Goss, Hagen, Galimzyanov, Greipel

**
Swift, Ventoso, Bozic, Hinault

*
Boonen, Ciolek, Engoulvent, Oss

===

Don't think I missed anyone (except actual leadout men like Dean and Renshaw). :D

You can forget about Boonen and Ciolek since they both made contact with the asfalt yesterday and won't be participating at any sprint the coming days, neither will Steegmans. Otherwise i agree with your top Three Hushovd, Gilbert and Rojas.

The fact it is so long I think the opposite actually. Experience is key.

Experienced riders are most afraid of mess.
Young had nothing to lose (for example Galimzyanov).

I guess that is why so many youngsters winning the classics.

Being fearless doesn't make a rider perform out of his limits.
Fact is, on a stage such as today, experience and strong riders are gonna do well.

Gesink wrote on his twitter that he slept fine.
But it still stings.

also big George on the new intermediate sprints:

Don't think anyone in peloton appreciates the new 15 deep point sprints in every stage. Tour was hard enough just as it was.

It will be interesting to watch Hushovd today. He's been targeting this stage, like he targeted the stage to Barcelona a couple of years ago and the cobbled stage last year. On the other hand, he's focused on keeping yellow as well, which might make him cover attacks in the finale - like we saw yesterday.

Keeping yellow got quite a bit easier after Tuesday, since now it's really only if Evans tries a solo he will lose it. So not so many attacks to cover.

True, but if Thomas or EBH attacks inside the last km - I'm sure he'll react, as they're only 12 seconds behind.

Thor should be fine today, in fact he is a good chance on this sort of stage imo.

Cancellara has a great chance today - remember stage 1? Had the ramp at the end flattened out (as it does today) no-one would have caught him. At 100-1 odds - get yourself a bargain !!

I have a feeling that Husovd is too tired today. He has used a lot of energy, and will probably roll in among the top 10 like yesterday.

Exciting moments today:

Who will control the breake? GRM is probably tired.
Will the riders be nervous, i.e. will there be crashes like yesterday?
Wind a factor? If yes, what will happen?
Cav/HTC's role: will Cav be able to follow and will HTC's train finally work?
Which puncheur/sprinter will prevail?

I love this tour's first week!!

A sprinter like Ventoso will win tommorow. Voeckler and Kiryienka hopefully to attack in the last few km.

Ventoso has been invisible this Tour, with the exception of the very first intermediate sprint this TdF. Unfortunately since I got him in my team. Was a toss up between him and Rojas.. I wish I had picked Rojas :D

Maybe Sky can get their little train carriage rolling today. I don't know about Swift, but Thomas isn't getting dropped on those hills, and if he can get on the front with EBH on his wheel at 600 to go, that's Sky's first stage win.
