Age is catching up with Petacchi.

(Obviously forgot to watch the actual racing in the Giro in between slagging off at it on his website).

Combine that with Anthony Tan who just about the worst reporter imaginable and its rather disappointing at SBS. I haven't really had any issues with Thommo until today, maybe the flu is catching up with him. It's not all doom and gloom at SBS though, Matt Keenan is ace and Sophie Smith looks likes she's a competent journo.

And yet Vaughter apparently decided before the Tour that Thor shouldn't compete for the green.

After today's stage, which I think they'll be trying to set up Farrar, they'll see where everyone sites and whether Thor has a shot. Thor winning Stage 9 (can't stop talking about it ) without the yellow jersey could then make it even closer.

We could potentially have 4 riders contesting for it on the Champs

I think because like Levi, he's bland and dull as dishwater. Both on the road, and off it. Maybe that's it. On this side of the pond we pick on Levi instead of him because of their native language I guess, but they both have similar riding styles, and similar personalities (if you can call it personality).

Ask him (Kloeden) about the German broadcasters. He won't be dull then

Kiryienka has rode Tirreno-Adriatico, Critérium International (2nd overall), País Vasco (stage win), all 3 Ardennes Classics, the Giro (stage win) and the Route du Sud (GC win). He crashed on stage 1, and wasn't originally meant to be in the Tour team but has stepped in due to the tragedies that have befallen the team.

He's been going full blast since mid-March and it's just caught up with him - maybe he had a crash or wasn't feeling too good today, but whereas that would normally mean coming in with the bus, today it meant HD.

He got caught out at the back around the feed station and didn't get back on. Very disappointing, he'd have been a great chance for a breakaway win once the route starts climbing.

Let me make clear, I could be wrong...I am not sure that any of you seem to understand that you could be wrong also. The differing blinders issued to fans of specific riders are funny to watch. Many of you hammer on specific other riders, but when it comes to yours, there is little to no objectivity. I guess the Armstrong phenomenon is a universal one after all...

He is quiet and not liking center stage for sure...Klodi always has a smile and a twinkle in his eye and seems a loyal and fair sort of fellow...

this has always been my impression of him too. i've always liked him from of course the little you catch here and there of a person on the course and before and after.

I hate seeing a rider of Kiryienka's quality being eliminated on time He must have been hurt or absent-minded though and both are dangerous so maybe he's better off going on a nice vacation. Still hoping for a nice stage win for Movistar!

I find Klodi somewhat mysterious so that makes him more interesting to me than Levi. I could totally be imagining depth that isn't there though...

I just watched the finish in something like 12 different languages. It's interesting the various guesses the commentators had for Bauke Mollema. I think the most common one was Tjallingi followed by Mollema himself. But there was also a few that thought it was Boom and one each for Ten Dam and Gesink.

Scream that EBH and Hushovd is fantastic, superb, sure.

But "owning" "the cycling world" is nothing I want to hear either from Spaniards (which has the most cause for saying it than a country which happens to have two really good sprinters for the moment) or any nation's commentators for that matter.

And as for the commentating being bad, I meant
1. It was only about Thor's and EBH's positions, not the others.
2. Didn't recognize Mollema, didn't mention Ciolek, Gilbert, Rojas, Feillu once in the sprint or leading up to the sprint.
3. They talk too slow and intermittent thus not transmitting any information to the viewers

But they know what they are serving the public, it's like a global fast food chain, don't look for any Michelin stars but people keep swallowing it

Great work by EBH and Thor though, I will add.

Also, I think you can combine enthusiasm and good, informative, correct and timely commentation, it's just a bit harder.

Danish telly are always showing pics and commentary when norwegians win in something, as they go totally crazy and we all have a great laugh about it. Bless em!

wow, maybe I missed a lot over the years?!

For starters, there's no stronger symbol for omerta than him, he has refused to even talk to German media for years because he claims they talk about doping too much and he constantly complains about anti-doping on his twitter. Maybe he's a nice guy, I don't know, but I can't think of a single other rider in the current peloton with more questionable ethics.

As a norwegian i think the comment about the norwegian owning the world was a little embarrasing. But I have to say that the norwegian comments at TV2 overall is very good, the got a lot of knowledge about all the riders in the peleton, and also a lot of information about the diffrent places the tour visits. Obviously they get a little high at the finish when both Thor and Boasson Hagen is in the final, but sometimes it gets a little to much. But afterh all their job is to deliver for the norwegian tv viewers. And the fact is cycling is know one of the most popular sports in Norway these days, 10 years ago nobody cared about the tour. But TV2 have made really good job promoting the sport in Norway showing the tour every year for many years. But sometimes they get a little to focused on the norwegian athlets, but after all this is their job.

I think you should look long to find commentators bringing so much information to the viewers as these do, but in the finish they are only focusing on the norwegian riders when they fight for the win. But if you look at the overall race I find these commentators very good, they got a database for all the riders careere and results and give a lot of information about the diffrent riders during the stage. For instance today the told that Petacchi wont the climbers jersey in Tour de Langkwai(or whatever the name is) some years ago. Unless you are an extremly big fan of him you would have no idea about this. But I agree in the fact that they get a little to nationalistic at the end of this stage.
