Judging by the guys who finished in front, or who gave it a try, all of them thrive when it's slightly uphill. I don't think the finish was actually that difficult - I think people got completely discombobulated and went far too early, so the speed at the finish was very low and people who waited, regardless of sprinting ability, came swarming past.
