Looks like another great stage. Great race so far, I expect more of the same today. Cunego needs to attack, but surely one of the Rabo guys will attack as well.

My dark horse for this stage is Di Luca, he's getting better.

Thinking a little more

You would think that BMC and Rabo ie teams in the top 10 would want a high pace on the 1st Mtn- not just for this race but to also put the Lepo not Andy as he will ride slow of course , Levi, Cunego etc in the red.

They may blow and lose places but may help their Captains in the Tour. If Lepo and Cunego, Levi work hard all day it may effect recovery and the tour.

again just an idea.

don't think it would really matter in a the larger scope of things to be honest.
These guys aren't peaking yet, they'll have ample recovery (maybe less training time compared to those at the Dauphine).

Anyway Gesink's and Cadels ambitions are bigger then F. Schleck and Cunego anyway, so it really isn't worth (especially for rabo) blowing such a good position they have on gc for something like tiring those two.. Plus if what you saying was true, it would also tire 2 of Gesink's biggest Lieutenants at the Tour.

Anyway BMC don't really have the fire power to make the other teams worry.
Chances are rabo will try something if they are serious are about taking time from Cunego.

Just hoping for something to happen I guess.

Best chance for this should be rabo, you were correct there, I think they gotta take some time for cunego if they wanna win those race. Best chace for that is to make the race pretty hard.

Kruijsracket's comments were most encouraging tho.

I'll go for another win by Kruiswijk, mirroring Rodriguez's two wins last week =)

Nothing like using the Giro to fine-tune one's form for the Tour de Suisse!

Theres real worry that the giro will just become a warm up race for the tour de Suisse

I know Andy Schleck likes to take it easy before the Tour, but couldn't he just kick *** in one of these ascents? I mean if Contador can complete in any race he enters throughout the year, surely Schleck can do something once that's not the Ardennes or in July...

AC is a much better overall rider, naturally he is better I think.
Schleck on peak appears to be pretty close in climbing.

7ª Tour stage of Switzerland: The 17 escaped

Kilometer 35. The 17 escaped are:

Linus Gerdemann and Andy Schleck (I READ), Martin Velits (THR), Danilo Hondo and Oleksandr Kvachuk (LAM), Jeffry Louder (BMC), Ryder Hesjdal (GRM), Pablo Lastras and Branislau Samoilau (MOV), Damiano Caruso (LIQ), Jorge Azanza and Rubén Pérez (EUS), Dries Devenyns (QST), Cyril Dessel, Horseradish tree Gastauer and Lloyd Mondory (AG2R), Leopold König (APP).

Classic we have a new nickname Ben GASTAUER = Horseradish tree

This 17 man break could conceivably go far, Rabobank and Sky (why Sky ) don't necessarily have the firepower to bring back a group like that...

Caruso is only down 3'11" on Cunego... Could be a special day for him.

EDIT: Break is slowly coming down. Less than a minute now. Rabo better hope they catch the group before the big pass, or this is going to be a lot more painful for them.

That's another Caruso, the Katusha version. This is the Liquigas guy.

On the climb it will actually be easier for them, since all they have left in this race are climbers (and Matti Breschel).

The break (short lived?)
Linus Gerdemann y Andy Schleck (LEO), Martin Velits (THR), Danilo Hondo y Oleksandr Kvachuk (LAM), Jeffry Louder (BMC), Ryder Hesjdal (GRM), Pablo Lastras y Branislau Samoilau (MOV), Damiano Caruso (LIQ), Jorge Azanza y Rubén Pérez (EUS), Dries Devenyns (QST), Cyril Dessel, Ben Gastauer y Lloyd Mondory (AG2R), Leopold König (APP).

Tschopp and madrazo on the attack. Good move to from BMC to put a weaker rider in the first attempted break.

edit: ticker was wrong its hincapie.
