Nobody really says 'naar hier' including all the standard incorrect stuff people say in spoken Dutch. If there's a place in NL where it's common I don't know it.

Because I was taught to say hierheen or hiernaartoe, and naar hier runs contrary to everything I ever learned about hier, daar and er, so I'm confused, but my teacher came from the Netherlands and so did the vast majority of our learning materials, so that could theoretically explain it

You are actually completely right, quite impressive that you remembered that. But it's one of those constructs that in part of Flanders is used a lot.
