I'm not the biggest fan of Visma and there's obviously some truth to them being "too" strict and I don't think the team is the best for most riders, BUT it seems like the most logical thing ever to make Cian train intensity when he has the explosivity of a 70y old grandma.

Anyways, at the end of the day it's his own fault for signing with Visma, everyone knows their strict and do it their own way. No excuses, he needs to stop whining and perform.

Interview before the start of Valencia. There was no real freedom at Visma. They didn't allow him to train on his TT bike, they mostly focused on intense training, and not zone 2 training and threshold training which he called UAE training.

Movistar is much more laid back though. You don't need to weigh your food if you want to, and eat cake. Not what he is doing, but they allow their riders to do that.

First real goal is Basque, and don't expect much in Valencia. He's at least 3kg's too heavy and hasn't done any VO2 max training yet. His fatigue resistance level is up though.

He seems to find an apology for everything

Yeah at 20 years old he should have had life figured out entirely and should have known exactly what kind of approach would fit him the best.

I hope that is sarcasm.
He is now 22 years old, hasn't done anything positive since 2022 Aveneir.
In and out of turmoil with teammates, management, career direction, health. He has been exposed to dozens of people who could have given advice.
Going downstream is illogical in my opinion and at his 3rd team, he has taken steps downward in team resources.
His schedule looks like he is either afraid to race against the best or he isn't capable. Czech Tour, Guangxi, Oman...really?
This is looking more like a life of self sabotage.
1st result of the year.. a. 29th

He was angry because he felt abandoned by the team, and because there wasn’t proper focus on ITT and support during chrono des nations.

As the info goes
He was a week with his coach at the time doing Aerodynamics, biomechanics (1 of the best fitters in the world) and testing with a full simulation beforehand. It was agreed with the team that he can go but no drama or antics whether he came 1st or last. He was there to learn. He had agreed and the rest is history.
His bike having the mechanical is not team related, he had it with him at home at a bike shop before the event.
Lots of made up stories come out of this kids mouth playing the victim.

His issue was with the spare bike not being set up properly

He blamed the team mechanics for the bike mechanical failure of the shifting buttons that fell out ski's when they worked on it but the bike was with a bike shop at his home before
He said:

“Na tien kilometer kwam mijn shifter los en mocht ik al direct van fiets wisselen. En die reservefiets bleek helemaal niet in orde. Dan kan je nog zo hard rijden als je wil, tof is dat niet. Ik kom naar hier om te leren. Dan zou het leuk zijn als mijn fietsen in orde zijn.”

"After ten kilometers, my shifter came loose, and I had to switch bikes right away. And that backup bike turned out to be completely broken. You can ride as fast as you want, but that's not great. I'm here to learn. It would be nice if my bikes were in working order."

So yeah that's a mistake by RBH. First of all, that the bike was at a shop near his home shouldn't matter. Isn't it the job of a mechanic to check everything beforehand? And secondly, the back up bike wasn't correctly setup either. There is some responsibility for Uijtdebroeks, but not solely.

Obviously you know more, I only know what's been told in the media.

What I don't understand is why he didn't try, if that's the case. It's a rare opportunity to test yourself against the clock, and you should take it. Especially when you're on a new team with new equipment.

They were not allowed to ride on the TT-bikes I thought? So in that case it would have just been a 20+ minutes test on his regalur equipment which might not add too much value for him.

That sucks, not even I like to see this. I hope he recovers well, interested to see how he does this year. I wasn't expecting much anyway
