He was top 5 in all mountain stages (from the favorites, not counting early breakaway riders in between). That's why he was 2nd

Yes, without a single meaningful attack. Sorry, I didn't really like TGBM in this race.

Nonetheless, if indeed he crashed or had a mechanical, what Team Schleck did isn't very nice, and moreover incredibly hypocritical.

Yeh, he would have sat this race out, except he lives there. Nice of him to be up there to give Levi a wheel if needed. But what if he shows for the ITT?

Don't know what happened to Mollema, probably just got surprised. Leopard did nicely anyway, had almost their entire team in that front group. Can't blame them for using that advantage to gain time on Mollema imo.
