Sorry I don't believe in Menchov.
I even think he is gonna lose more time in the time trial instead of gaining back.

He seems to have more or less the same form as in the Giro... not bad, not great either. And his TT there was absolutely awful. So indeed, I don't see him taking back time on the likes of Bradley Wiggins.Dekker_Tifosi said:Sorry I don't believe in Menchov.

That's not fair, he's showing his happy face!Libertine Seguros said:This post makes Denis Menchov sad.

Could be, but when you take into account the time he lost in the TTT and due to that mechanical, it turns out he's done exceedingly well in those finishes that don't suit him, and yesterday he was up there. He could conceivably win time on all the favourites except maybe Wiggins today, and he could conceivably climb better than all of them too. He's definitely a threat.Dekker_Tifosi said:Sorry I don't believe in Menchov.

Sadly I agree with you. Menchov is too far back. He'll need to win the TT today and take big time for me to truely consider him.Dekker_Tifosi said:Realistically Wiggins, Nibali or Fuglsang will get the red jersey after today.
I think the battle for the overall is already down to 3/4 men even if still so many are within 1'30 of the leader.
Wiggins and Nibali are now my top favorites. I don't believe anymore in Scarponi or Rodriguez.
Mollema and Vandenbroeck are the next to think of after Wiggins and Nibali
Dan Martin maybe if he can limit the damage in the time trial.
Fuglsang already lost 50 seconds yesterday so he will lose minutes on the other tough mountain stages. So after the TT he will fall back automatically.
So in order of likelyhood, end winner of Vuelta:
Wiggins/Nibali
Mollema/Vandenbroeck
Dan Martin
others (from Fuglsang/Rodriguez/Scarponi to Kessiakoff/Cobo etc)

What have you been on? Zubeldia - hasn't really done a great tt for a while.Libertine Seguros said:I have a suspicion that Haimar Zubeldia will be in the top 5 tonight.
I think that it may be possible that, because of working together to limit losses, Taaramäe/Zubeldia/Menchov/Kessiakoff might actually be a bit fresher than Wiggins. Wiggins will beat them in the ITT still, but they might just be able to limit the losses enough to make things interesting.

I kinda want Menchov to do something special tonight. I have a soft spot for the Silent Assasin.
His first pro win was in a TT last yearauscyclefan94 said:What have you been on? Zubeldia - hasn't really done a great tt for a while.
Libertine Seguros said:Radioshack, Basque, first Vuelta to visit Basque country in 30 years, 9th on GC at 42". We also haven't really seen Zubeldia ride for himself in a long time either. I see Rodríguez and Moreno as sitting ducks, and he's on the same time as Seeldraeyers and I'd expect him to beat him too. Which just leaves 1 person ahead of him to target.
Mollema has 42". Nibali has 33". Kessiakoff has 24". Fuglsang has 5".
All of them are decent ITTers but Zubeldia only needs to have a good day and he'll pass at least a couple of them. Behind him, only Wiggins and Monfort are direct, definite threats - the next bunch of ITT-riding men are Brajkovic, 1'28" behind him, and Menchov, 1'36" behind him.
Wow, Menchov is only 1'18" back from Wiggins after all that! This could be more interesting than we thought - he could easily be still within 2 minutes after today...
