Did Capecchi made a really strong pace? I can't see no reason in pushing in front, with no significant threats for gc ahead or stage winning chances with sagan...

TGBM looking very good (to the extent that someone with such an awful style can look good). I said it before: he could be a good Vuelta rider. He likes Spain, that's a start.

Kruijswijk not great, but if his two Giros are any indication it's all upwards from here. What I don't understand is that Rabo seemed to drive the front group when one of their GC riders fell behind.

Sastre is not out. He missed the split yesterday out of bad positioning. He was today in the front group. I'm more worried about Antón. He didn't look at ease in the last climb today.

How did Menchov get on?

Sastre said in his twitter, that he missed it because of bad form (or he is in bad form, don't remember exactly.) So he surely can't be very good...

man sastre is out since a long time,he is not motivated any more:( sorry i love carlito and he was the definition of professional athlete but now sometimes i feel he had enough of suffering on the bike.of course that's also the case with menchov.i don't blame them i understand them,it must be a hell pushing your limits for at least 14 years on the bike.

geox will go just with cobo.
i think looking how strong he was today, wiggins is a very big threat, look at the way he breathes.

And why is that? Kessiakoff is probably just a notch better than Kangert, but Kangert is in top form right now.

Ok, might be overrating him alot, but still I think he has a good shot at atleast top 30. Kangert needs like 3-4 years to be a top 10 in grand tours, the 1-1,5 years out of injury and his bad knees really need time.

Well, top 30 might be possible in this race if he holds on and doesn't just settle into grupettos if he gets dropped. Astana has mentioned that they want to keep riders high on stages to have a shot at the team classification as well so there's a good chance he'll do just that. Also the Vuelta is a race where more riders tend to take it easy rather than to push themselves to keep up so there are usually bigger gaps in GC which means that the ones that do try to stay high on GC have a better shot than at say the Tour.

Still, I doubt they would make him the leader. Going into the Vuelta they said that Kashechkin was the leader and Kessiakoff and Kiserlovski were the backup leaders.

This doesn't happen to Menchov if he's on race winning form. But I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

The pope is an enigma wrapped in a mystery. :D

Things can change tomorrow in the leader/not leader stakes so it's best to wait and see. It's quite possible that a lot of GC people will have bad days.
