According to the Dutch Eurosport lads, the boy has no more than a broken arm and a cut lip, which is a pretty good sized miracle! Karsten Kroon, who was close behind Arvesen when this happened, tweeted that he was in tears on his bike as he thought for sure that both would be dead.

Yeah, I've read that too yesterday. Has been a pretty bad year for crashes

Wow, I thought the kid Arvesen crashed into was near the side of the road and only invaded the road briefly to get a bottle or something, but he's right in the middle of the road, and he looks old enough to know better.

Exactly what I was about to say. Saw the impact photo on TV today. WTF was the kid doing? Big open road, he must have seen the group approaching!
Unbelievable

Wow. Just, wow.

I had made the reasonable assumption that they were on the edge of the road and Arvesen had just caught him but that's ridiculous.

The worst crash I've ever seen, going 70k/h I was in the wheel of @kaarvesen when a child ran on the road and he couldn't avoid him.

Sounds like the kid decided to cross the road. Whether he just misjudged their speed or was playing chicken is anybody's guess.

They should stick that photo on one of the vehicles in the publicity caravan telling parents to hold onto their kids and kids to stay out the road!
