There was a split in the peloton. Few seconds between the sprinters + the rest

Based on prov. GC, looks like 5 seconds between sprinters and pack. Brings Cav et al closer to Navadauskas, who wasn't in the front group.

Ferrari was dropped with Thor and Tyler.

I wonder if he did that deliberately to stay out of trouble.

Goss keeps red, obviously.

Cav pretty much has to win each flat stage now to reclaim it, assuming Goss keeps placing himself in the top few.

I'd be surprised if either rider finishes the race.

Neither will finish the Giro anyway so I doubt either are bothered.

Goss is easily the closest challenger to Cav he's going to be tough to beat for green at le tour.

Yeah, greenedge should be motivated to help Sky chase down breaks. Could benefit the Cav/Wiggins conundrum.

Nice to see Sky sort themselves out finally.

Crap leadouts have got Cav crashed twice this year already, but we've now 1 example where they might have won a stage for him.

Well in KBK they made a very strong leadout for him too ;) Dunno about his Qatar wins and in Tirreno he had only EBH.

But this was the first sprint where it looked like he needed (or at least was thankful for) an above average leadout. Most of his other wins are comfortable enough that dropping him off in the vicinity of the front will do.

I thought they've got the best out the leadout riders in this Giro. G. Thomas has done quite well - and he is not exactly Mark Renshaw, is he..

There shouldn't be a lack of horse-power, but the job in the first two sprint stages was not great, and then outright poor. Today they got it spot on.

Goss lacks speed, eh? I was quite impressed, actually. Yeah, he lost, but still he gave Cav a run for his money at least.

Will make it interesting for tomorrow as Goss and Cavendish, among others are less than a time bonus away. Obviously depends on who is in the bunch to have the final sprint assuming a breakaway doesnt take it.

It's not interesting at all since tomorrows stage is really hilly and I don't see that ending in a sprint with those sprinters. Maybe Goss but that's already a stretch.
And saturday it's over for sprinters

Haha, sometimes I wonder why the other sprinter teams make it so easy for Cav.

Farrar's form is just pathetic.
