rujano's time loss is easy to explain. In the little downhill up to the last km he lost a lot of positions. I think he started the final 1,5km in 50th position

that was indeed the case,he always does like that unfortunately.

pozzovivo did today exactly the same but i watched carefully the finish,he was coming from behind like a supersonic.he still has the trentino form.he has to attack tomorrow big time because you don't know when you will get sick in the third week.

Incredible. Everybody has a camera on their phone these days. Everything gets posted on YouTube. And yet, still, despite the supposed incident being in the last few km's of a Grand Tour stage, the best we can find is a few tifosi giving him a nudge up a hill for a few meters.

This Cav stories are getting really stupid. He's climbing much better this year. Probably the best I've seen from him.

I take it you didn't watch cycling in 2009 then. He was a far superior climber then that this year.

According to Tuttobiciweb (I didnt watch Processo alla tappa myself) it seems that Rai found out that Cavendish wasnt gonna make the time cut when suddenly the elicopter had to stop down ("..not enough gasoline..") and Cav suddenly appeared few mins later on the finish line right on the time limit.

As posted by Frosty on the stage 6 thread, perhaps you should read this to have a better idea of what actually happened, and the fact a commissaire was with them at all times.

Just watched the stage. Kinda boring until the final climb but that was better than expected.

more attacks then I'd expected and a somewhat suprising final kilometer. Expected more Cunego/Uran/Rodriguez instead of Scarponi and Tiralongo

Aside from Cunego/Uran/Rodriguez I was also suprised that Kreuziger didn't do that well. I thought a finish like this + a climb like that in front of him would suit him a lot. But oh well...

Now here is a rider to admire. He rides all year, places well in the spring classics, Giro, TdF and the Vuelta.

Here's hoping he can keep that momentum.

I can`t really understand all this complaining at the forum about boring stages and races. The cycling has not changed that much in the recent years. Why do you bother to watch all this boredom, that you do?

I agree, I think we got exactly what we expected from the stage, it was infact more exciting than I was expecting.
Long break, caught pretty much at the foot of the final climb, it was then interesting to see which riders were fighting to stay at the front, which teams were pushing the pace which ones were maintaining, and then the final kick at the end to see who has form, and who just cruised it. I thought the final climb would be soft pedalled, there was clearly no real time to be gained.
So to an extent I agree it was a little dull for 180km or so, but you can't have the favourites battling for GC and break away winners every day.

I kept on waiting for on the climb the action to start and kept on getting disappointed when each move was shut down ( Rujano/ Sella ). However the last km was good. Rabottini, Jesus and Pirazzi all did well. I wonder whether Pirazzi could have won if he was not overcooking on the descent.

Congrats to Tiralongo for a good stage win. It was a supreme effort by him ( i loved how he and Gasparotto both looked exhausted after their wins ). Now he can help Kreuziger who gave me a scare by not featuring in the top 15 on Eurosport ( but still finished with others like Gadret- who let me down on my stage prediction ).
Scarponi dominated and did very well ( the climb suited him ) but Frank and JROD looked good.Frank did very well considering he did not even know he was coming here and will loom as a big challenger.

Congrats to Ryder who is well placed and i think will keep the jersey ( at least until stage 14 )- though he could go even better.

Basso i knew would not go so well on the steep climb ( but he still finished only 9 seconds down on Scarponi ) and Liquigas look strong as a team.

Pirazzi didn't overcook it, the moto wasn't going quick enough and he had to swerve to avoid it.
