maybe a break gets away, or a good attack on the climb, cant see any of big names risking anything on this, bar maybe dropping few seconds any of gc contenders be disapointed lose any time on this.

Got a sneaky suspicion that either a big hope who has lost time, like gadret or one of the supposed 2nd tier gc riders like henao may just give it a go up the last climb.

Given the finish Meersman might like it, although i guess the climb is to difficult for him, so why not Visconti...

NO way Meersman will be able to do this. He got dropped on stage 5, with hills nowhere near this finish.

nah you can't attack when the peloton goes at 32-33 km/h.especially henao, there are enough real mountains to come

Zomegnan out! 203 median distance first 5 stages

Other than the ITT and TTT, the first 5 stages average 203 KM. This 7th stage, with ´Rolling Hills¨ could be taken by Purito, except he doesn{t want to stress out his team too soon. With the likes of Valverde and Gilbert, who excel on this parcours, it´s an open bet. Are some of the favorites hiding in the pack, afraid to show what they have brought, or what!! Let{s see if the Pro'Conti teams and some of the lesser ranked Pro'Tour squads seek TV coverage.
On the other hand, The TdC is Cantina Abierta, what means, no tests will be conducted. As there are several Conti teams not held under the bio'passport standard, what out for OVNIS%%%%%%%%%%

Combination clasification

Instead of having so many clasifications at the Giro, why not use a combination made up of 60% gral-20%KOM-20%points plus intermediate sprints.
Glad to see that so far all three Maglia Rosa dudes are also under 25. The future looks bright:):)

they do have something like this in the Vuelta, but (except Nicholas Roche) nobody cares. Especially since it's not allowed to award a jeryes for more than four different categories

so if they want to establish something like that they'd have to sacrifice the jersey for the youth classificiation (like it's the case in the vuelta)

I think Rodriguez will take it today.
He needs to take some time before we reach the stages that doesn't suit him (and especially the ITT) and with time bonuses today, this is a very good opportunity especially considering that he's probably in better shape than most of his rivals - oh yeah, and of course the stage suits him very well and Katusha should be able to keep any break away within striking distance.

And did I mention that it's his birthday today?

I will stick with my prediction of 8 or so days ago and pick Gadret.

Cunego shall also challenge.

Ryder i think will take the jersey.

I would be surprised if he lost time today. This is exacly his type of climb.

I hope Kreuziger does very well this weekend, so all idiots bet on him to win or top 3 the Giro. Then I lay them very hard and take their money when Kreuziger fails in the final weekend

Live-radsport.ch mentions in their live ticker that the altitude gain of today's stage is 3077 m. Yesterday it was 2636 m, and tomorrow 3295 m (all according to live-radsport.ch). Are these altitude gains official? Are they available anywhere for the remaining stages of the Giro? I couldn't find them at gazzetta.it.

Looking forward to the stage.

I don't think there are official altitude gains.
For example, yesterday on RAI said the altitude gain was 3000+ m...

we have the escape: Beppu (OGE), Selvaggi (VCD), Rabottini (FAR) and Hollenstein (APP)
2h30 for them

not a strong group, they will not make it
