we have the escape: Beppu (OGE), Selvaggi (VCD), Rabottini (FAR) and Hollenstein (APP)
2h30 for them

not a strong group, they will not make it
To me, it looks like they have a good chance :D

They might make it if they can convince Hollenstein to drop back...

I suspect too many guys will have their eye on this finish to let a group of three non-climbers contest it.

Lampre won't fight for the jersey, as none of them is dangerous in the big picture, they may go. If they get reeled in, than because someone of the bigger guns wants the stage and will make his team work

Indeed. Freely translated in Dutch, his name means Arso Arsenstein.

How do you translate Reto?:D
And i gues the Hollen is derived from german Höhle. So wouldn't that be hol in dutch, too?

Yeah, it's 'hol' in Dutch, but that word is frequently used as a metaphore for ones ****. 'Reto' looks like 'reet', which is another word for ****.

So Reto Hollenstein.....

Maybe 'Arso Buttenstein' would be a more literal translation.....

Since that includes two different words for ****, just like the name Reto Hollenstein

However Cunego can do very well today, so if not for the jersey, they might work for the stage, as well as Katusha and Astana.

Beppu to get in a breakaway today or tomorrow.

If Katusha doesn't chase + the heat - the break can stay away.

I was thinking Garmin might want it back - I guess it depends how much they really think Hejsdal is in with a chance on the overall. Or OPQ if Golas can stay in which I was discounting.

Don't remember who tipped Meersman for the stage, but he obviously carries a curse: he's steppe off and abandoned.

Before the Giro I was sure that he will get some good results, but he was disappointing.

I mentioned Meersman just said the finish might suit him but thought the climb was too heavy for him, where did you read he abandoned?

edit : just confirmed on Sporza twitter : too much pain in the back....

Brailsford gets it :p

"We didn’t want to leave them behind ( Uran and Henao ), and if there had been a choice of finishing with them, or being up on the platform [winner’s podium], I’d have taken the former rather than the latter."

apparently they are riding at 33km/h while the race organisation had set the slowest pace at 35km/h...
