A "Rolland win" in a breakaway. A good victory but he was 10th in a edition won by Landis/Pereiro.

His younger brother is not overrated but he lacks will

If Frank really cannot do any better, then it's ok. Maybe the brothers are actually very overrated, I think it's possible and would explain a lot.

However, if he's holding back so he can "do well" at the Tour or out of some spite for JB, then... there is no hope for him as a world class cyclist.

I am sure that thos would be a-la the 2010 Vuelta, he will be considerably slower than the top guys, but still manage top-6/

Fränk is having a pretty bad season but he wins important stuff you know. He has a pretty good palmares. Another case of him being lumped together with Andy I guess.

Ferrari? Ugh. I can't think of a less deserving winner. He shouldn't even be in the race after the crash he caused.

Hmm. Not sure is this post-sarcasm, or post-fail?

Maybe a poor translation of what he said and to paraphrase Ferrari...that he wanted to show Cavendish he could win because he didn't believe in me.

A victory does not redeem you, but your words and actions do.

Ferrari sounds like he still does not care about the bone-head move that took down the WC and Pink Jersey.

Anyone else I would applaud, but not today.

I think he should have been thrown out of the race, but he wasn't (not even sure he could be as per the rules), so it's time to move on, and he won fair and square today. Deserving winner indeed.

Nice result, happy that Ferrari won a stage, he clearly wanted it so, so badly and he was good in last year's Giro as well as this one.

Great win by Ferrari really happy for him.

For those Cav fan whining, Cav should have been kicked out for cheating on the time limit. So that make him and Ferrari even.

he's a ****** and Sky f-ed up by not having one of their guys (they had a huge train) dedicated to boxing Ferrari into a barrier, perfect stage for it.
he only wins when he takes big risks, today's last turn was a good example

This is an inherent problem with language translations. While the literal meaning comes through, the idiomatic sense does not.

In Italian if one says, for example, perchè non credeva in me (literally "because he didn't believe in me") it simply means that he wasn't highly thought of in terms of ability, in the sense of credibility. So not only was Cav brought down by a reckless move, but by one, form his perspective, who isn't even worthy of fighting for the victory. So he should have "stepped aside" rather than dare to fight with gods. In other words had it been by someone of more class, the ouch would have at least seemed less insulting.

So, in this sense, Ferrari intended with his remark that he felt he had demonstrated his athletic worth to Cav. For this reason he was content. But these are subtleties that don't come through in any trans without also having a cultural perspective.

No, that's a problem with sports media not using actual translators. Any decent translator will recognize the idiom and translate it properly.

He didn't believe in me / He didn't rate me

Much the same surely?

because the world champion of ours has never made bone head moves in a sprint ey.
