Eshnar, is anything known about area around Cervinia? Is the climb windy or maybe it goes through the forrest, I dont know...? It could lighten their attempts in theory. :)
I don't know how windy it is, but the wind should be from south according to forecasts. So no problem at all.
And... no forests as far as I know.

Naaah... I was always going to just I wanted to put it first as i though someone else might put it up as Jens asked people to and i didnt want to prepare some stuff and then see someone else has already set up a thread.
Well done! Although you did not mention the Sky duo - then again, are they really contenders [whispering]?

And that IS the question. If its a 'select group' at tempo I imagine they both will be in the group.

If that does happen, it might be fun for Henao to take off with a couple of miles to go and see if he can break any pursuers.

No point having them both cruise home each stage, may as well have one or other attack.

I don't think there will be happening very much tomorrow. The climbs aren't steep, so draft comes in too play, and liquigas will want to control the whole stage so that basso won't lose time.

Good preview, but Hitch's are clearly better:)

I will pick my MTF stage but when I have time to prepare I will certainly surpass anything Hitch has to offer:eek:

I mentioned uran as an outside favorite. But I was stating who i think could win and i dont believe that Henao can win this stage:(

Though i did miss out Nieve who won a mountain stage last year.

Why do I have to miss this :(

damn 'family day'

no, wait - there is still hope.

in your best heartfelt, compassionate voice, tell the clan "yanno', no matter how many peaks and valleys we experience in life, no matter how steep the climb or how perilous the descent, all anyone has at the end of it all is their family."

pause a few seconds while family day attendees absorb the profound truth of this great fact of life.

then, with a big smile and in your most cheerful, "ain't it grand!' voice, proclaim "speaking of peaks, valleys, climbs, and descents, today is a great opportunity to practice the time-proven adage "the family that watches the giro together stays together!!"

:D

hey, can't hurt to run it by 'em, right right right???

Nieve has won 2 gt stages, both from a break. he is 3.50 or so down so not enough to let him go and he will probably choose a more mountainous stage anyhow.

can't see how you can hesitate over superior climbers like henao and dg but include nieve.

I'ts true isn't that steep, but altitude makes a difference.
I pick Kreuziger, me thinks Basso and Scarponi will go well too, indeed.
Rodriguez drops time in this kind of stages, but looks in good shape, so maybe not, dunno.

Yeah, altitude. another reason why antioquenos like henao and Uran might surprise a few people.

Will be interested to see how Intxausti goes as he looked good the other day. He did well in the Pais Vasco in 2010 at the age of 24 and ok in the crit international. Last year can perhaps be excused due to the Tondo death :)() so it will be interesting how high up he can finish if he is on form.
