I kind of agree that it's sad to not see guys really even try to go halfway for it until 5 km. I was watching clips from races in the 80's and it doesn't even seem like the same sport.

The big problem is, too many people are praying for the last climbing day to be their day instead of doing the work early and taking the lead ahead of time. These people don't seem to realize that most people who win tours win it on the efforts earlier in the race than their later efforts. Look at Contador. He almost always attacks early in tours and gets small 30-60 second advantages. A few stages later, that's up for 3 minutes and suddenly no one else has a chance, all before the big stages! The earlier races in tours help you get where you need to be so you don't have to worry too bad on the last climbing stage. The best part is, even if it doesn't work on one of the early climbing days, you will be recovered again on another stage and can take it there.

Henao worked for Uran the last 1,5 km so that explains he was a little behind at the finish, Kreuziger well just couldn't follow

Indeed. Henao leadout Uran to the top of the peleton and them eased down when Uran started his sprint. At the 1km sign it was very clear if you going to rewatch it Hitch ;)

Henao and Uran are just as much over-hyped by Ryo than Rujano. Rujano rides for the devil team though and the first 2 for Sky.

Nice win for Amador, won it on the descent. I was rooting for Barta, but very pleased breakaway rider won, he fully deserved it. Roman a little disappointment. Nice move by Ryder but i think this was his best day ever, and I don't fancy his chances. Rodriguez is looking good for this one, also Basso and suprisingly Tiralongo. Also Domenico and Michelle in with a chance. Maybe Uran can become a contender, one can hope.

Uh, if only Andy could be there! He would have showed them a real master class of climbing. The pace was so low that I think it could have been possible to fire straight from 50-60 people pack. It was a typical for the Giro stage when the teams in general are weak and cannot provide a sufficient joint intensity to drill the group in a proper way.

Hmmm before the Giro I remember people saying Hesjedal might go well because he has a good recovery and is thus best in the third week (see previous two TDF's for example) and considering the third week of this Giro............

At least Uran and Heano managed to stay with the GC contenders while Rujano lost time on a climb...

Nobody is overhyping them, few said they did a good ride today and it's true - it was a good ride.

Am I misunderstanding, or are you suggesting Sky are the darlings of this forum?

Pretty sure Andy wouldn't have done anything without his big brother.

Cavendish to try and get through the mountains? He'll probably win the jersey if he does. If he does, I expect we'll see him climb off during the Tour and go to Poland to play with Boonen or something.

People here are having a go at Rujano because Ryo over-hypes him. Well guess what, Ryo also over-hypes Henao and Uran. Did you read my post? Didn't say all of the forum over-hyped them.

You picked an odd day to say Uran and Henao are overhyped.

I think Cavendish will get to Milan only if he can win the points jersey. No point in struggling over Mortirolo otherwise.

By Ryo. Henao is the next Contador already according to some of his posts. I think it's fair to say he DOES over-hype them.

White jersey and top 10/20 are in their grasp. That wouldn't be over-hype, but what Ryo is saying sometimes.... ;)

Why did henao lead out Uran last km though ? What was Uran possibly going to get. they were both going to.finish in the pack, a job well done, why tire henao and lose him 3 s ?

Uran is probably the leader now and they were trying to minimize their losses to Ryder Hesjedal. Questionable tactics, but no big deal really.
