Good win by Gerrans, was hoping GVA or Costa but they still have Montreal.
Also Sagan showing some pretty good form, can't wait for worlds :D.

Great 5th place by Slagter. Discovering his punching abilities :)
He's a puncheur, but Rabo never use him as such. It's strange, everyone who can climb must and should be a GC rider, which he clearly isn't.

I wouldn't call losing to a bunch of B class classic riders super shape.
He also seemed to use energy at times where it was just a waste, and ofc no team to chase hard for him :(

Good to see Ulissi is 6th. Surprised to see Ciolek in the top 10 though.

He was 9th last year too iirc

Edit: Yeah he was, he is really consistent :D

Ciolek was ninth here last year--he looked surprisingly strong chasing on the hills.

Great win for Gerrens and Greenedge, thought Sagan was going to catch them but he's another who looks in good shape heading towards the worlds

To be fair, before this year we still had to see clearly what kind of rider he could be in the pro ranks, and it's not like they've made him race for the GC since the Giro. With any luck he'll have learned what his focus should be by now.

Incidentally, I think Landa is a lot like him, but Euskaltel will probably try to use him mostly as a climber anyway.

Breukink fired. They will get it right now maybe?

Seems like Sagan had no team-mates around him, he burnt himself just reaching Gerrans and GVA, as noone wanted to help such a dangerous sprinter.

That must be why he isn't contesting bunch sprints anymore. Must have lost some speed.
But good if he can reinvent himself as a classics rider.

 I didn't say he was in super shape now. He tried to catch Gerrans and GVA, left it too late and burnt all his energy. If he would have stayed cool he probably would have taken 3rd place. Considering he quit GP Quest Plouay, this was a huge step forward to getting back in shape.

It will be difficult for him with strong Belgian and Spanish teams.

Sure, but he is quiet used to having few teammates around him, and handles it damn well.

Hmmm, GVA started his sprint like 150m to the line... That's not bad timing, Gerrans was clearly stronger...
