I suppose if 3 week racing isn't for him and the courses in London being easy it makes sense.

Otherwise I would say the Tour is a better way to prepare.

Great news for my cq team. So long as he stays uninjured.

de gendt has massive talent but I always fear he could become another devolder because to me seems he isn't always too serious with cycling. he also doesn;t seem very smart. same problem as devolder too. I hope I;m wrong but I'd say 50-50 he could turn to be like that

Bakelants is forced to ride the Giro and has to skip the Ardennes classics despite his wishes.

Looks like Radioshack's Giro team is starting to take shape

Fuglsang
Bennati
Zaugg
Bakelants
Oliveira
Rohregger

How stupid is Bruyneel, Bakelants is a pretty promising Ardennes rider, why wouldn't he let him ridE?

I don't think Degendt would mind 2 Monument victories on his palmares :p

Devolder's problem is not that he isn't too serious with cycling it's that he's emotionally weak and trains way too hard... And he doesn't take advice as well as he should. Those aren't characteristics I see in Degendt tbh.

Bakelants is the one who's stupid, he never should have switched teams in the first place.

Unless RadioSheck pays him a million euros or so.

Having two of your best friends die in the space of two years would affect a lot of people.

In other news, Andy is off to the Tour of Oman to start his season.

he trains too hard? are you even serious?

devolders problem is that he doesn't train and blame it on everything else but himself. the way he talked about weylandt for rest of the season as his failure was the lowest I've ever seen

you understand nothing of it then as for south americans those are no small races in their countries.

Ok how about how happy you were that Duarte had given up on riding the Giro by signing for Coledeportes?

So its ok for Duarte to give up the big races for smaller ones but not for Boom?

boom's goal is the olympics and the best preparation by far as we all know is a gt. not riding a gt as preparation because you will be used as a helper that's a sad and dumb thing yes. if duarte was focussing on olympics this year I would've thought it a dumb idea to not ride any gt possibly. but that's not the case

I know for a fact Devolder trains way too hard ;)

And I'm talking about his season before the death of Wouter Weylandt as he indeed stopped training after his death for a month. Which is where the emotionally unstable part comes in.

devolder already sucked hard before weylandt died. in the spring but also the year before. he is as lame as they come in lookijng for excuses and it's weird then taht you know he trains too hard btu I've never heard anyone in any team say that. more the contrary. he also often has problems with his weight

That new trainer he hired said he went to the Sierra Nevada and immediately started training hard on the first day. Everyone with basic knowledge of altitude training knows that's not the way to go, apparently Devolder doesn't.

So, you're a better judge on what is best prep for a rider than the rider and his team? Gimme a break. Scoreboard-journalism.

Lol, I was thinking the same.

I was bummed when I read both Hermans and Bakelants signed with RS... Two very attractive(and I don't mean their looks) riders riding for the Hog.

3 decent Belgian cyclists(Monfort, Bakelants and Hermans) thrown away in the gutter for the Schlecks. Hermans is the biggest idiot though, signing for Leopard because he wanted to leave Radioshack. That's what we call getting trolled.

Hermans and Rast did try to leave Bruyneel, until Leopard merged with Radio Shack and they were back to where they started.

Lol @ Monfort comment. He had his best season last year, Vuelta leadership and at least working for the Schlecks is better than working for Cavendish. Now with the merger we will have to wait and see but he has already voiced his ambitions for another Vuelta leadership. I think there is still a quite good chance that he'll get it, even if he will have to share it with someone else. I do hope he gets it!!

Hermans is a pity, if LEOPARD TREK had stayed more or less the way it was he could have had much bigger responsibilities than at RadioShack, and certainly would have featured in a GT line-up, which was his main ambition. Now, unfortunately his chances look even worse than last year and his season is off to a terrible start.

I think it looks like this:

Fuglsang, possibly Klöden: Giro
Schlecks, Klöden, Horner, Monfort: Tour
Schlecks (Worlds prep), Monfort, possibly Horner and Fuglsang: Vuelta

If it turns out like that he would only have to share with Horner

Sky have announced their february squads..

Most notable is the monster squad they are sending to Sardinia
Sergio Henao, Peter Kennaugh, Danny Pate, Richie Porte, Salvatore Puccio, Ben Swift, Geraint Thomas, Rigoberto Urán
wonder how much of that is the basis of the giro squad?

Omloop
Michael Barry, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Bernhard Eisel, Juan Antonio Flecha, Mathew Hayman, Jeremy Hunt, Christian Knees, Ian Stannard

Kuurne
Michael Barry, Mark Cavendish, Alex Dowsett, Juan Antonio Flecha, Mathew Hayman, Jeremy Hunt, Ian Stannard, Chris Sutton

Henao makes his debut in Mallorca. Cavendish debuts in Qatar

Probably only henao, and Thomas from that will go to giro
assquad for giro so far seems to be: Thomas, Cavendish, Siutsou, Dowsett, Appollonio, Lofkvist, Henao, doubt puccio will get picked for first grand tour with places so hard fought and porte is doing same porgramme as wiggins and uran is focusing on tour as well
