Porte pulling back a minute on Nibali after already working on the front for 30k. Seems legit.

For such a tactic to work, one should isolate, or at least try to, Wiggins first, so that maybe only Froome is with him.

Now it's just a well rested Sky train against a solo attack.

Agreed. That's why I have been advocating to make the race hard from km 1 today; before the climb already.

Again what's the use of Greipel, Henderson etc or some of the flat BMC domestiques today (and especially tomorrow).

Tire the Sky train today and kill them tomorrow? Seems like the only obvious explanation why others didnt attack today.

Actually Rogers will be in a really good condition, because of the flat. It's a bit unlucky for Sky, but on the other side, it's really good because now he can soft pedal to the finish.

i figured the strategy out... Nibbles to meet up with Scarponi, and Scarponi will sacrifice himself for Nibbles :D :D :D

This is a very good situation for Evans. Nibali put sky under pressure, and will be a nice carrot for any attacks out of the group. I think Evans did the right thing, showing some maturity in being conservative, saving some for the last bits as sky get worn out.

Thats the ideal situation, though...

Except Sky isn't under any pressure at all.

He don't have to save his energy, he has to go full gas, and then he will gone, on the other hand Nibali have to save himself, because if he goes full gas, and the peloton will catch him, then it's over for him.
