Breakaway ftw today then. Bit surprised Greenedge aren't pulling at all. Goss is in the group right?

I was a bit surprised by this as well. My guess is they're afraid Sagan would easily win against Goss in this finish so they're gambling Goss will take enough points back in the purely flat stages coming up.

lemme guess, Liquigas should provide more support for Sagan? ;)

well, they should mainly decide, what they want, currently, there is no support for nibali nor for sagan, so what they are at tour for? there is pretty good chance for the green jersey currently, so yes, maybe they could try catch the escape, obviously it late now for this stage. Sagan could have easily gain points on Goss, as the finish looks slightly uphill.
Same with nibali, there are not helpers for him either, the only one that was helping him was actually only sagan on the descents, that's all and is very little if they wanted to attack the yellow. That's why the tactics in liquigas seem strange

At the moment Liquigas are looking good for a podium spot and the green jersey so I think they're doing alright. Sagan has received support, mainly from Oss and please bear in mind that he's up against Goss not Cavendish so Sagan can more than hold his own.

So who is going to win from the break? Are Sky holding a steady gap to give a chance to Millar?

This is far from 'holding a steady gap'. The gap went out from 1 minute to 11 minutes over the last 25 kms or so. It doesn't really matter how much the gap is though, everyone in the break is too far back in the GC and the break is not coming back today, so it's upto Millar if he wants to win the stage.

Thanks

Its a small summit though. :)

hugh

It might be a summit topographically but it's not a categorized climb. :D

By the way the 17th stage is the only stage along with yesterday's stage where the 3km rule won't apply.

yes, you're true that he's battling Goss now, however, imho, this was last stage where sagan could gain reasonable amount of points on goss. If I am not wrong, all other sprinter stages are too easy with easy finish, so goss will have slightly hihger odds than sagan, and very easily, greipel could win all of those. I am not sure how the points are there, however I guess sagan is not so safe against him either at the moment.
