Just heard Mørkøv lost his dad 5 years ago on this day. Not looking good now, but would be awesome if he could perform a miracle here.

Love this kind of racing but what exactly does BMC expect getting out of it? Sky and Leaky are never going to get dropped by this.

It gives them something to do, and someone might make a mistake and get dropped (not likely but... ).

They might be trying to drop Pinot to make the white jersey more secure for TJVG

But agree it is pretty pointless - maybe Cadel is going for a stage win :D

Anything can still happen, according to Zabel there are also strong side wind after the climb. It could still be split into atoms, crash and other accidents is still possible with such strong wind.

Strictly speaking, given the options of:

1. Punt a bunch of the peloton off the back in the wind; OR
2. Do absolutely nothing,

Option 1 hardly seems like a bad idea. And, hey, maybe if they split things up enough Gilbert can attack on the cat-3 and get away, or something like that.

LOL: Rather than echelons, half the peloton just sit up and form a big bus.

Yeah. Why not. Hardly anyone cares about time losses anymore at this point in the tour.

You finally have a flat stage that could be interesting and it's half way in the tour.
