Yeah, Lotto only won 3 stages this way. In fact, the only reason Sagan beat Greipel in a sprint this Tour is because Greipel's shoulder was dislocated. Sagan might very well win today, but Lotto is by no means being dumb here...

Im glad you know how things would have been if things were different, but somehow Im sure Sagan won´t agree with you, neither would I.

It appears this report was true the way the peloton slowed on that climb/decent and all the sand on the road

Not necessarily. Those breakaway finales are often very boring and predictable as well. One random guy will attack with around 15k to go, everyone else watches Dumoulin (best sprinter) and random guy wins with a comfortable gap.
