Fair enough - I think I misunderstood the nuance in your statement. Apologies, on reflection I'll retract - it's not the silliest thing I've read on these boards.

That said, didn't he attack from more than 10 kms out on three different stages just in the last tour (how long was the descent into gap, and that other one when him and Samu got caught on the flat)?
 
Zubeldia needs some help for 10km in this tour, and team-ego can't find anyone to help him.

Presumably all too busy considering their reputations to realise they've been outridden by their domestique and should be helping drag him up the last climb of the race.
