But did Cadel really need the help? He had almost his whole team so he was fine, Orica were riding for Gossy for the stage, they were riding before the crash, there was only 25km to go so there was no time to sit up and wait.

I don't think there's some big conspiracy going on between Orica and BMC

Yes but it looks bad if Cadel openly TTTs like that after a crash. OGRE, with a reason to ride, could easily fill out a dual function. They also openly said in ProCycling that they would ride for Cadel where they could.

That's a bit unnecessary, he's not responsible. It was the first Friday last year where he had his big accident resulting in him having to retire.

Oh I know, I just don't like Brad much anyway, taking the positives from the crash; that the climbers are going to go on the rampage (hopefully) from now on.

I would say that he will have more succesful Tour than the KOM winner and possibly Sprint winner if by some ridiculous joke it is not him.

Well, we can agree to disagree here, I don't think there's too much of a point in going back and forth. I guess people's perceptions are different.
For me, I could probably name the KOM of every tour in the 2000s without having to look online. These are memorable.

I think(and I might be wrong) most people remember Soler winning KOM in 2007, and Rasmussen in 2006. Now would you be able to tell me who won 3 of the first six stages in 2006 without looking it up? I would be able to take a guess and be right about it, but I certainly didn't remember it for certain

Did anyone see Vansummer coming in? He looked bad. Incredible spirit shown by the guy just to finish the stage.

Agreed.

Wiggins gained time on GC contenders aswell, it wasn't just Cadel.

Some of Virenque's KOMs had nothing on Sagan's first week here.

Interesting that they gave the first nine riders a four-second gap on #'s 10-wherever. Obviously, none of those nine riders are likely to be within a half-hour of the yellow jersey in Paris, but I'm just somewhat surprised, I guess.

If he's true to his words he will abandon, and focus on La Vuelta... :(

ps: definite the biggest contender to lose time today

Nope that is not what he said.

Smart move for Sky to stay at the front. Today was the worst day for the field, period.

From Wiggins point of view, yes, and his GC is the main goal. However, EBH, Cav and Porte were all caught behind the crash - dont think they were badly involved in it.

Yeah, the sprinters pulled clear as they put the effort in towards the end.

just like i said last year on the same day i guess....fucc this tour.

just one more stage and then we would have had all the favourites right there ready to fight on the planche des belles filles
and then what?
grenade at the front of the peloton
rolland is buried
valverde,gesink,hesjedal all gone
jani gone.
frank gone

damn what a bad day

still i have to be content and we all should, that these guys are still in the race and hope they will attack straight away

sorry for all of those who abandoned.it can all happen so fast....

chapeau for cobo, who was a beast for valverde today

bow down to hulk, certainly a new cycling god which i can no longer deny or dislike.

By my count, the time cut should have been 22 minutes, 9 seconds.

Only Poels left. It is possible that he lost his timing chip along the way. Also possible that he was very badly hurt but is struggling on trying to finish the stage rather than retire.

and that's what you want for peter?really?

Yes, I do not want Sagan to dominate for the next 10 years.

It's not like anything bad happened to Eric Vanderaerden. ;) He won 6 Tour stages, wore the yellow jersey, won the green jersey, won Paris-Roubaix, won the Ronde van Vlaanderen, won Gent-Wevelgem, etc

He was quickly burned out though.

Horrible riding by GreenEdge, so happy they lost. Ruined a lot of GC guys races with their actions.

Sagan is incredible.

Lotto drove just as hard as Greenedge in the last 10kms....

You really should be mad at BMC and SKY. They should of made Evans and Wiggins sit on the side of the road so the other GC riders could catch up......

GC is by far the priority.

Porte is domestque, he lost lots of time already. Waiting for mountains to begin. Yeah, but EBH and Cav involved but all GC contenders. This was success by Sky in GC terms - and that's priority.

Well, I'm hoping that Franky, Gesink, Roland, Jani and co. further behind in the GC = more attacks in the mountains. One can only hope, right?
