Uhm. Didn't you read Rabo's press release yesterday?

They told all their riders to take it easy today and take it as an extra rest day. Only exception is LL S

Did they tell that to LTD? not a bad first split by him.

When the focus is on Evans historically in ITTs it's been when he's been up against climbers (e.g. Sastre, Andy Schleck). He's had mixed results there when he should have been knocking the stuffing out of them given that he was in good enough condition to contest overall victory. I also don't think he is in the same form as last year. He's had a couple of steep uphill finishes already that should suit him. Last year he would have made up time; this year, nothing. I hope I'm wrong as I'd like to see a really close fight.

lol no.... the steep finishes this year didn't really suit him. Last year stage 1 and bretagne were much harder finishes.
This year there was only like what 200m??? of steep sections in stage 1, the rest were mostly flat and a 700m climb in stage 3. Way too short for evans, more like sprints for Gilbert/ sagan type. He was going to gain some time on wiggins in stage 3 though until wiggins went kamikaze:D

just kidding

While they're showing Pinot on the TV, worth pointing out that the top 4 guys in the white jersey hunt are going off within a span of about 21 minutes.

I figure Tejay, being the strongest TTer of the 4 but in 4th place, should be able to pass Pinot and Gallopin without too much trouble... should be interesting to see how well Taaramae does. If he has a bad day he could lose the white jersey.

Decent chance that if Taaramae has a bad day we could see a very close split among the top 4.

Do you think Sagan can do a wheelie on a TT bike?

At this point I wouldn't be shocked if he had his guys set up a ramp at the finish and jumped through a flaming hoop over a school bus.

Kessiakoff doesn't seem to go full gas, still 13th at first split. He seems to be in great shape, suspect we could see more of Kessiakoff in this tour.

No, he said that he'll take an extra rest day today. I suspect you're right, though, as he also stated that he's now targeting the polka dot jersey.

Brilliant! Send him the idea, he can use it on Champs E.

Gesink taking it easy.. no sprinting, no idiotic faces. Hopefully he can deliver some fireworks in the mountains.

To anyone watching SBS coverage... Am I the only one that has now got the music to that Swisse advert with Evans stuck in my head?

Unfortunately you get the same ads a million times over. The result you describe is inevitable. I've had that tune subconciously buzzing around my head all day.:)

My biggest worry is by the end of the tour I will have overdosed on Swisse supplements.

What do you think his time could have been if he had to defend his GC. He now lost 2;58 to Martin (who, admittedly also suffered from a crash).

I can't see anyone threatening Cancellara on a course like this. Not even Wiggins in top form.

Froome to beat Wiggins' time anyone?

No.

Wiggins quoted as saying the Vuelta where Froome beat him, was at 1000m altitude, at 37C and he went off too fast. He won't do that again

Gotta agree with this.

Wiggins has different approach now - he starts slowly and finishes fast
