ACF's BMC support goes way past hyping a rider which rides for that team...
It's a bit dull after a while though. I normally root for underdogs but I find myself wanting Kohler to lose the jersey cos I don't think this forum could stand him winning.

So................

before joining the site here i had never heard of Wilco Kelderman before . From what i have gathered he is a first year pro. Can anyone explain to me why he is receiving such massive amounts of hype?

Oh hello how was that rock youve been sleeping under? TMWK is only the new Eddy Merckx mind you.

Nothing against Kohler, but I'd be pretty ****ed to see BMC take this one. (nothing to do with ACF either).

As for the stage and the overall - unfortunately I just can't look past Valverde to take this; closely followed by LuLu, Ballan and surprise of the day - Giampaolo Caruso.

I will probably get this completely wrong, but who cares. It's the first televised race of the season, I'll even stay and home to watch it rather than going out to a bar and watching hockey with my buddies.

....

....

Kinda sad I guess...

Wondering if I should put money on Machado for this stage, he's usually in really good shape early in the season and is one of the best climbers here. Gerrans could easily get screwed by a wheelsucking Valverde, or visa versa.

Yeah, that's a good pick actually. He also usually does pretty well on the Alto de Malhao, or whatever that climb in Algarve is called.

Last year Hermans, Porte, and Bobridge were the strongest climbers. Just goes to show that it's more about form.

he is also a very aggressive rider so we know that he will at least try to do something. it really isn't a bad pick.

Would be a good pick indeed but just noticed that he isn't even listed on the betting side I'm using! They have odds for friggin W. Bonnet but not for Machado...Oh well, I've already earned the massive amount of 50 euros so far in TDU anyway :D

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/dont-underestimate-the-chance-of-a-surprise-winner-says-peiper

"Everyone thinks it’s going to be the favourites and Gerrans is obviously ‘the favourite’ being national champion, but there are a lot of riders who haven't been talked about," Peiper said to Cyclingnews in Tanunda at the end of stage 4.

"Tiago Machado and Romain Sicard come to mind particularly – not much has been said about them but they’re both going really well."

Liking Velverde and Movistar's chances to win it all. Don't think Gerrans and Greenedge will be able to do anything. EBH/Rogers and Sky to put on a big fight. ;)

When is the expected finish? I need to set my alarm.

Or, wait? Is there live footage? How have you people been following the race live?

This stream did work for the Down Under Classic. And for the race replays. Don't know about tomorrow, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Estimated finish time is 3 PM local, that would be 5.30 CET if I'm not mistaken.

So say if I set the alarmclock at 4.30 CET I would normally be able to watch the final (hoping that the stream is working that is)

I think Gerrans is clearly the man to beat. He is in great form, having won the national champs, as was uncharacteristically explosive at the finish of Stage 2 when he outfinished Valverde and Boasson-Hagen.

Plus, he's targetted this race (and this stage) since the route was released and it was clear this wouldn't be a race for pure sprinters like it usually is.

I've backed him at $9 and am pretty happy about it.

for what odds? Because i think to most betting sites he is the favorite so you'll get paid 18 dollar or maybe they pay 3/1 or 4/1 then you get 27 or 36

He's at 9.00 with the Australian TAB (http://www.tab.com.au). I don't like to discuss how much I have bet but since you asked, $200 to win $1800.

Other betting agencies seem to have him at around 4.50 so I think it's a great price.
