Phil lost the need for RSNT to save face and a podium spot for Machado. Jens took the third and the remainder of bonus for Tiago. A race within a race.

Bakelants takes 3 seconds and is now ahead of EBH by 2.

Garmin takes 3rd out of the bunch, so Gerrans wins.

OK, somebody explain the tactics.

Bakelants is a sitting duck as soon as they want to chase it down. Easier to hold him there at one minute than have other moves going on. Durbridge isn't chasing hard.

Get to the finish 1st :p joking aside gREENedge 'allowing' non gc threats to scoop up the on the road bonus seconds and not fussed if a non dangerous GC group stayed away, but the team formly known as Radioshack have thrown a slight spanner in that plan by sending a 'dangerous' GC guy up the road, hence why Meyer is in that group too. But I may well be wrong and no doubt by the time I've posted this you'll have 20+ replies!

Did I hear Phil suggest that RSNT should chase down Bakelants so Machado doesn't lose his place on the podium???

I believe so, but teams orders are so 2009!

Sicard is from the Basque Country and, amazingly, speaks Basque. But I still love you, Phil.

4 laps to go, Rabo team orders "Full Bore, Guys. Now! Now! We need you to crack on the penultimate lap. Go! Go! Go!"

Bakelants is or was up the road to cover for the the three spot on bonus sprint seconds. Some other team will bring them back. Like their saying now Lampre, etc...

They'll get chased hard in these final few laps to bring Bakelants back.
Meyer is there to police the mov,e do some general work to keep them ahead. As soon as Greenedge start to chase Meyer will stop working and sit on.
Bakelants will basically have drive it hard himself to try to survive and maintain his time gap. Which he won't be able to do.

Bakelants is not giving it much. Machado was only 6 seconds into third, so he could have lost third on bonuses which the break of three has I believe taken up. They should come back in two laps hard drive.

"He (Casar) beat Lance Armstrong to the line in 2010 at Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne" ... surely that was Contador and Andy Schleck, Paul.
