Oh the anticipation of the first real GT stage with a lot of very interesting riders. I can't wait.

I think the main contestants for the stage are Uran, Anton, Contador, Mollema, De Gendt, JROD and Quintana/ Valverde.
JROD seems most likely but teams like Sky/ Movistar can use more than one man to attack.

Contador, Froome, Rodriguez will try but not be able to get away, De Gendt will have difficulties to hang on

VDB to sneak away and win :D

This might be THE DAY of switch between generations, between the big ones, the multiple big tour winners. From now on, it's possible to resume everything to Froomie, and not to Contador. I'll copy-paste this from time to time for the next 6 years. :)

12-8-4 for every stage.

I was sure, that there are in flat stages, but it's good to hear that there are also on MTFs, so we will see at least a real battle for the win. I have always preferred this.

IMO there should only be bonus seconds to the winner of the stage. No bonus seconds to those who gets 2nd or 3rd.
Winning isn't everything, it's the only thing.

Wait what? The Vuelta has an interesting stage immediately

Awesome :D

I opened this thread, expecting another flat stage.

Seems to me that the boni seconds at the finish will make it a great final. Also great to have a MTF after just two days, so much better than a boring first week in the TdF. Looking forward to it.
I expect AC and Anton to blow up the group of contenders, Antons takes the stage and AC some boni seconds. Quintana third? Is he capable to do that?

the bonus seconds are welcomed in my opinion

I agree. But IMO only for the stage winner. Although I like it in the intermediate sprints (also for 2nd and 3rd there).

EDIT: Hopefully it will make the riders go all out for the win, instead of being happy with a 2nd place and some bonus seconds.

That's not what it says. It just says AC will be stronger (in his opinion). Nothing about anyone else being on top form.

Yes and I said he "implied" it. By singling out AC it makes it seem like the others won't be that much stronger.

They learned from last year, then a stage win gave 20 points.

In fact, if it wasn´t for the bonus seconds, Froom would have won the Vuelta last year with Cobo in second, so how fair it is, I really don´t know.
