he didn't ride the tdf for gc - different kind of effort. sky belongs to a different forum.

Cobo is the main leader for Movistar. I think Valverde is riding mainly to get in to some form for the Worlds'. He won't ride for GC.

Why is Movistar taking responsibility for the chase? Cobo won't be there, Valverde is quite obviously not good enough for the GC, Castroviejo won't survive this in the red jersey and Quintana, while he might well be with the very best today (and I expect him to be), is not a favourite yet when compared to the likes of Contador. Shouldn't they be leaving the chase to Saxo and Katusha?

Kind of a rhetorical question, since Movistar's tactics tend to make little sense.

Valverde FTW ...

So who rode for GC at Movistar at TDF ?

Because before the start people said Valverde would go as GC leader with Cobo as domestique to prepare for Vuelta...

So are you now saying Movistar didn't have a GC leader at Tour ? I just doubt that...

Which do people think is stronger, the sky team here or in the tour, climbing wise?

In the tour they did first and second , and they put 450 W on each climb. Let's hope they don't do better in this vuelta.

Valv did intend to go for yellow in July, didn't have the form to maintain a challenge so went for stages instead.

I reckon in the Vuelta Cobo is going to get dropped in a big way and Valv will take over for MS. Maybe even today.

...after a few crashes and a puncture with 2-3kms to the start of PdBF.

Alejandro was also in the infamous Metz massacre (stage 6).

I thought so too. I believe it is 12-8-4. I see Sky has assumed its position.

Sky on the front. It feels the same as Vettel getting pole. A bad nightmare from times before.
