Purito will be dropped, like he was dropped the other day when Bertie attacked.
That was on a 5% gradient, in the wind. Today's climb is short and steep, right up Purito's alley.

what are the odds, it actually isn't a bad bet as it is one of the stages that suit him forsure. Not the top dog for the stage, but him winning is not ridiculous.

i think he was at 23.00

Seems like there's no chance of escape today. Advantage has been just over three minutes for the past 12k, Katusha controlling for Rodriguez.

No it was on an 8 % part of the climb and it's a sign though but I don't think he will drop today.

Rodriguez said he wanted to go with Alberto but he suffered and waited for the climb to become a bit flatter before trying to come back.

doubtful. Very doubtful. I expect a battle between Valverde, Purito and maybe Gilbert if he's got the legs---all assuming the break doesn't stay away.

Contador has shown multiple times in the past that he can drop people at any gradient, the only question is his form relative to Purito et al, at his best it doesn't matter what the gradient is or how long the climb is.

So you think he could follow him if he really tried to, yeah right

Dropping is dropping, and Contador had at that moment a teammate with him and Froome was there. Purito couldn't do any better.

But today is different of course. Not even a real "climb".

Not at all. Purito wanted to go but he couldn't, because he was suffering. I have seen some people arguing he didn't go with them because it was a pointless attack.

Katusha should get the win

Rodriguez will obviously attack hard on the steep bit but I could see a regrouping on the flatter bit and then Dani Moreno will pounce

John Lelangue said that this stage may well suit Gilbert, but he may have to contend with super-motivated GC contenders, like Rodriguez and Valverde, in order to pull off a stage win today.

I bet 5€ on Mollema

good bet?

He could win.

...if there was no Valverde, Rodriguez, Contador or Dani Moreno. (he could hang on to Froome and win the sprint because Froome doesn't viciously accelerate)

Some strong riders in the break though

But yeah, it seems like they'e given no time at all, which is a wise thing for Kathusha to do if they want Purito to win, considering De Gendt is in te break

I think even ift it's only a 3-4km climb, it will proof too long for Gilbert.

Of course it is steep. Cant you even analyse a stage profile pic. :)

Valv. and Rod in a little chit-chat before the Eurosport break. Seems they can go along well. No bad blood.

Some were saying that the last part was almost flat and well that's not true at all. At sight it looked very steep at the end.

Valverde for payback today.:D

Brailsford is going to come to regret the at-all-cost tactics on the road.

I wonder if he's consdiered that Froome might go down, as will happen in this sport, and then what?
