2012 Vuelta CQ game

[Maaaaaaaarten]

Rubbish, I picked more favourites and gc contenders for this team than any of the other comps. Picking a certain favourite was always an ott risk in the other two games, this one you could probably have picked Froome or one of the other 1500 guys and still had a good team around them.

Think people are just whinging because they can't load their team up more.

No, at the TDF I could pick Gesink, JvdB, Froome, Menchov and Rolland.

No way you could pick five equally big names for the Vuelta.

Not saying you can't pick riders that would end up equally in the GC, hey for all I care Quintana will top 10, but it's his first GT, things could go wrong.

JvdB and Gesink are still affordable, but you won't know whether JvdB does well after having done the TDF, and both riders have become significantly more expensive as opposed to the TDF. Froome is more than twice as expensive now.

I'm not even whining btw, I like the CQ game better with less points and less easy obvious picks, because it makes selecting the best rider's more challenging.

Also, for something completely different, I'm contend with today. Viviani and Swift more or less did what I expected them to. Hoping that between them they can win a stage or two and get some decent placings in the sprints and they'll be worth their points.

Meersman has 4 Vuelta points (3 from stage 2, 1 from TTT), Van Leijen has 1 (from TTT)

Van Leijen has somehow been removed from the team listings for Comodoro and TeoSheva, who were reported as having picked him on Saturday, but are both down to squads of 8 today.

Team listings for CasperVG, flyerdk and MellowVelo all show Meersman as having only 3 points.

So essentially we have the one team that includes Degenkolb, followed by the two that have Rodriguez.

It looks like the top scorers in the race will come from a group of 4 riders, but 2 of them (Contador and Valverde) were not available in the game.

So our winner should come from those who have splashed out large on either Froome or Purito. The latter group only has two members, and of them, the back-up riders on Hilltop Finisher's squad look more likely to score than Cantalupe's (Talansky/Anacona look more likely than Anton, and the rest of both squads have been anonymous in the latter kms thus far).

If Froome overhauls Purito, and does so by enough to make up for Purito's better chance of getting stage points and those to reward red jersey ownership, then there are 8 of us to be brought to the fore. But among those 8 teams, there are very few back-ups looking at their best: Blues in the bottle and I both have Andrew Talansky, probably the least disappointing of the bunch so far.

Thanks for the update. We are currently moving our company office and it has been just a craziness. I think for next year we have to find a way for the dopers to be included for the GT games. It seems dull without those guys

God damn, why didn't I just take a chance and go with Froome in stead of splashing out on several other riders? I actually had Froome in my team at the beginning, but decided that 1700+ points was too much for one rider. Silly me. Instead I'm stuck with Cobo and Antón

Man, with Gesink, Anton, Quintana, De Gendt, Gadret, Landa and Majka I'd do great in the mountains, but it seems only Gesink and to a lesser degree Anton live up to the expectation......

De Gendt will probably attack and win a stage, but the rest all randomly decided to underperform.

Not much change except the bounce back up the table that mcmountain gets every time we have a sprint featuring Degenkolb. However, ther should be more change tonight, assuming the Froomites who dominate the places just below the podium will gain substantially over the top two Puritophiles.

Or maybe not. The Puritophiles not only survived at the top, but are looking set for victory. There are only two of them, but they seem fit for a close battle. Great improvement today for Handbrake, who gained many places by having Kessiakov and Talansky, but also by not having Froome.

The top two extend their lead still further. Tuarts moves up a couple of places, mainly because of Capecchi having moved a bit higher on GC. Very little change otherwise.

Only one point between the two members of the breakaway that, like the 7 riders on the road to Ferrol, seems unlikely to be hauled back. Minor changes in order in riders down in the 30s and 40s in GC, and the drop out of Possoni, and so 15 points off Cantalupe's projected total, has brought it down to the sort of gap last seen on stage 3.
