I dont remember any "strong" rider coming back at top form after ~1 year absence.

Basso won the Giro 1 year after, and Valverde just on form at the end of the year and he will suffer at the first half of the next year because of intense racing programme.

Alberto started racing 1.5 months ago.

He were never a favourite for lombardia anyway - a black horse at top form.
