I dont post much; but just wanted to say im excited for this giro. I really hope Nibali and Santambrosio light it up. + a cast of loads of ital conti stage hunters. Hope wiggo is on top form but its gonna be dull as **** if no one is gonna challenge him properly.

I want good action!

Let the games begin!

Totally agree, it´s gonna be exciting!

Shame that Basso isn´t there... Basso just belongs to the Giro, no matter how good or bad he is. But he´s injured/ill, so what can you do...

I fear Wiggins will win this. In 2008, I feared Contador would win, which he did then, but he´s a great rider, so it was OK, though I always prefer Italians to win their domestic GT.

How good it would have been to see Ricco destroying Wiggins in a Giro, and be sure, he would have done exactly this.

So this year, as I said in the other thread, I hope the four or five top Italians and especially Nibali will kick Wiggins´s a** so that he quits cycling end of May and gets back to his lifestyle as an alcoholic. Won´t happen, unfortunately...

I also hope for a strong outsider GC wise, like Buffalo Gutierrez in 2006.

Just out of curiosity: What has Wurf ever done to make you consider him as a GC guy in a grand tour?

(

:D

But you´re right, Wurf will be a happy man if he finishes the Giro.

I dont fear a wiggo win, i just hope he has to attack at some point OR... 'more likely' do some epic defence action. I actually really like wiggins despite the general hate for him on this site. Understandable. he is a really boring rider most of the time, if not seemingly rude to most of europe. Besides wiggo I want to see some serious racing. Really hope samu can show something, if not a stage win then 2! if not 2 then getting in the mix to upset GC riders. If not that then a GC win. S.Sanchez need more support here on this forum.

Everybody! Turn your wiggins hate into samu love..... please

GO CARROTS!!!

I don't suppose anyone has seen any rules/regs for this year's Giro ?

I read something about stage time bonuses being back for the high mountains stages this year

There are time bonuses on all stages except the time trials.

Does Mauro Santambrogio really justify 4th favourite, or best of the rest on some odds?

Would you say he's a cert for top 10/12 if he gets around?

Hehe, I clearly was in provocation mode with Wiggo... :D Sooorry!

Just turned on TV, and what do I see? Wurf taking his leadership role seriously, clearly wants to reach Brescia as first one... :p

Interested in an avatar bet? I'm betting that Wurf will be the first cannondale rider in GC at the end of the Giro.

Yeah, why not? I don´t have experience in avatar bets however... What do I have to do if I win or lose?

So you say he´ll be first Cannondale man in GC after the last stage, and I say "No, he won´t!".

Well....I didn't think this through. I guess if I win you take a mighty Cameron Wurf avatar for until the Tour, and if you win I take an avatar of your choosing until the Tour.

@Eshnar & co:

Is there überhaupt any Italian youngster who could be the big suprise this giro and would be able to follow the footsteps of the likes of Ricco, Simoni, Cunego and might become the dark horse / wildcard in the gc this time? Except Aru, because he's in a domestique role?

Santa is 28 already and Betancur is Colombian. Ulissi isn't there right!? What about Locatelli? Somebody from Androni (Felline or Rosa)? Or is there really no real prospect atm in Italian cycling :(
