Ah yes. Good times. That literally was the first corner.

That TT also featured the best crash ever. Video.

What's with the sudden jump in votes for BMC? Something to do w the Phinney article on the cyclingnews front page?

This forum doesn't have a great record predicting ttt winners. I think it could be any if the top 5-6 teams... It helps to have 1 very solid time trialer, but there are so many factors

Short, technical, and the gradients are never severe and sustained (occasionally 1 but not the other), so I'm saying OPQS or Greenedge.
OPQS may have won the Worlds, but with exactly zero of the riders currently riding in the Giro. Their team isn't that strong.

BTW, kidding about Blanco aside, Stephen Farrand rates Gesink together with Sanchez and Scarponi as the riders who will lose a lot of time today. That might be a bit harsh, considering that the Blanco line up consists of about 5 TT specialists.

lol, Lampre were not far back at all in Trentino and their best riders aren't heavy rouleurs/sprinters so will not be held back on the climbs. If they work well together they will easily be within 30 seconds of Garmin/Sky.

Today has nothing to do with the worlds TTT.

It's a short technical course, so I'm backing teams which are largely sprint teams over those built for climbing. My post made that pretty clear for anyone who read it rather than just added their own erroneous reasons for why I might make that prediction.

How is a prologue more exciting than a TTT?

A prologue is the beginning of the gc battle. You can see where all the contenders are form wise and it forces them to be on form from the start. + it gives prologue specialists something to ride for.

+ Its cool to see all the riders (after cameras start rolling) start one by one. Riders you won't normally see really since they are doing dom work.

leaving aside all the well known arguments about the potential damage ttts can do, and the unfairness of them, they dont show us anything about the form of the contenders who can follow wheels or take small pulls and therefore hold off their form until the first gc stage.

Was gonna write "in before iznogoud nonsense about Machado easily winning this TTT for RadioShack", but too late I guess.

Can Cavendish keep pink today?

I don't get it, you know how strong Machado is, so why this nonsense

Let me put it differently: they lack the horse power. The team they had at the Worlds might actually be a good leadout for Cavendish.

They should start at these times:
1 15:40 Colombia
2 15:43 Ag2r
3 15:46 Blanco
4 15:49 Bardiani
5 15:52 Argos
6 15:55 Saxo
7 15:58 Lotto Belisol
8 16:01 Sky
9 16:04 Vini Fantini
10 16:07 Vacansoleil
11 16:10 Cannondale
12 16:13 Katusha
13 16:16 Androni
14 16:19 Euskaltel
15 16:22 Lampre
16 16:25 Movistar
17 16:28 Astana
18 16:31 FDJ
19 16:34 Radioshack
20 16:37 Garmin
21 16:40 BMC
22 16:43 Greenedge
23 16:46 OPQS
