You actually thought he was clean? He is an abomination.

A rider testing positive always puts a damper on a race, no matter what you thought of the rider before.

let's wait first to see if it's happening

sadly, a yellow 1-2 like in 2007 is no longer possible i guess.
scarponi to win it

Garzelli and Santambrogio to attack on that lump 100km out and solo to the win obviously

Fanboy post: Evans will win!

That would be nice but if he hangs on I will be happy. He will be attacked from all sides and like Sean says "well, he has to make the calculation."

I was really enjoying this Giro up until this mornings news. Now I feel totally deflated, even though I totally agree with cancelling stages rather than putting riders at risk. The Di Luca news I think has killed it for me more than anything.

Anyway, if this stage goes ahead with this profile then you have to say it's Pozzovivo's chance to show if he really is the man for when it goes to the the steep stuff.

i thought when I saw his name, great. At least he'll do some damage for sky. well, turned out, he did do damage all right. Not to sky, but to cycling in general!

this one: http://www.yr.no/place/Italy/Veneto/Tre_Cime_di_Lavaredo/
seems to be the correct one for the finish line - doesn't look too good
and what makes me a bit worried - yr.no is normally very accurrate on their predictions...

for the Passo Tre Croci it looks better
http://www.yr.no/sted/Italia/Trentino_og_Syd-Tirol/Passo_Tre_Croci/

snow predicted all day, but at least not that cold - around 0°C

so my guess, they alter the route once again and maybe finish at Tre Croci (if they want a MTF)

He has been riding well in the third week. I think he has a good chance for the stage.

Dont want to jinx sanchez, but with the form he showed in the mtt then so long as Nibali doesnt care that much about the stage win he should be the favourite. 9 minutes down on gc, once they are on that final climb then if the pace is slowish he can catapult out of there and no one will care.

He has a good shot, I agree.

This will be Fabio Duarte's great moment.

Fabio, you looked so impressive on the Galibier, now please find the right moment to burn all your excess energy!

This.

I think that a lot of today's outcome depends on how much Nibali cares for the stage win. I also don't think the break will get too far, as Cav will want to take the intermediates

Astana will chase anyway, today will be about honouring Pink. Expect Nibali to go for the win.

No, it's just that any rider being booted off a race is always a kick in the teeth for us fans. In this case it feels like a particularly hard kick because it beggars belief that a) he could be so stupid, and b) that it was allowed to get to that point in the first place.
Anyway, enough about that abomination, I've wasted too many words on him already. Any further discussion belongs in the clinic and not clogging up a decent race thread. I apologise.

Eurosport claiming 12:30 CET for a 5-hour show. If you are in Italy, probably earlier.

I expect Betancur, Majka, Samu to go for the stage. Scarponi will attack but Nibbles is far to strong.

I hope for a strong ride by Kelderman and Weening! Can't see the whole stage since I have to do some cycling of my own. Enjoy!
