Renember that Majka lost a minute to Betancur due to a bike change himself.

Anyways I love how Nibs won this stage. To make a statement. Also good ride by Evans despite losing 2nd.

Both did great rides this Giro but I doubt Majka would have been as close to Betancur if we'd had the full parcours without the weather induced changes.

Actually it would have favored Majka if it was warm. Hé doesnt like the extreme cold. It was the two really cold stages hé really suffered, and hé did complain about it. Also I got a feeling that a multiclimb stage on normal would suit him.

As we have seen in this Giro and in the spring Betancur copes well with cold weather and hé has done an amazing Giro. Hats off

BMC reports:
Evans finished 14th, 1:30 behind stage winner and race leader Vincenzo Nibali (Astana Pro Team), while conceding 1:11 to Rigoberto Uran (Sky Procycling), who finished third to move into second overall. Nibali launched his decisive attack in the last three kilometers of the 203-km race that finished atop Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Evans was riding with the group chasing Nibali when disaster struck. "I had a technical problem at two kilometers to go all the way to the finish and that cost me second place," Evans said. Between kilometers two and one, Evans lost 33 seconds to Uran and stage runner-up Fabio Duarte (Colombia) and an additional 28 seconds in the final kilometer. "He tried to resolve the technical issue, but the severe weather and the nature of the problem prevented him from doing so and it cost him valuable time," BMC Racing Team President/General Manager Jim Ochowicz said. BMC Racing Team Assistant Director Fabio Baldato said it was a shame because Evans had been riding well up to that point. "All day, Cadel had good legs," Baldato said. "For sure, second was better than third. But we are still on the podium and tomorrow we need to control to make the race safe and then the goal is reached."

Would have been nice if they explained What the technical issue was.....

quite an epic stage today mainly because of the snow and the maglia rosa who was stunning gotta say. didn't expected nibali to win this with a bang
colombians were great also
i'm happy that cadel managed to stay on the podium, now he was on every grand tour top 3

still 2007 tre cime remains the best though. untouchable drama

It looked like he had some gearing problems on the climb, imo it looked as if his gear might have been stuck. Didn't matter much though cause his cadence was fine.

What is the difference between a normal pistol salute and a full *** pistol salute?

When it's the 117^1.000.000.000.000th time he uses the same victory gesture... :p

That would explain why he faded after nearly bridging back...still they're a bit vague and it seems like his cadence was ok, so...

Painful to watch this stage looking at all those top climbers who peaked their season on the giro waiting for those mountain stages. :(

Nibali obviously amazing.

Evans i was thinking before the stage and especially when he began to crack that he is very lucky to be on the podium, but he ended up doing a lot better in the end so maybe he would have held on even with the mountain stages.

Impressive from Duarte though. There is hope yet.

I just realised today how bad Vacansoleil's Giro has been. Best stage result was Grega Bole's 9th place finish on stage 5 and best placed rider on GC is Valls Ferri in 29th place, 53 minutes down.

Just horrible.

Just watched the stage on my Sky+.

1st up congratulations Nibali. He proves he is the strongest in the race by winning both the MTT and the Cima Coppi stage to go with his Maglia Rosa. Chapeaux. True champion.

Well done to Uran - Deserved 2nd after giving up almost 2 minutes earlier on waiting for Wiggo.

Betancur takes a deserved white jersey and 5th in GC. Despite having 2 mechanicals where Saxo started riding and expending alot of energy to catch back up he was able to work with Uran and Duarte - An excellent effort today to deservedly take the white jersey.

Congratulations to the organisers for managing to get a stage running today, also to keep the original end point was an excellent effort.

Someone else counted Killer way faster in the last 3k. Which probably matters more.

well, tre cime is not only 3 kms so no.
vincenzo was anyway carrying too much snow that's why he couldn't get any faster :p

Thanks I was tearing up right along with him :) These guys worked so hard since November to make this happen and now it has. Chapeau Astana, Chapeau Vincenzo!

Me too :) tearing up with Agnoli...

Then Vincenzo said this was for Rachelle. Such good back story here is what I am thinking! But I admit I like a love story sometimes.
