Not sure what today proves for Evans - I wouldn't expect descending to get worse with age. He didn't make the initial selection, and by the time he rejoined there were 25 riders.

he proved enough good shape to grab second place & the time bonus I still have him out of the podium, but he may well cause trouble to the main contenders, by-for example- stealing precious time bonuses at the finish line from them

Evans was much better on the final climb at Trentino and reportedly rode within himself. The past year and a half has been affected by health issues. If those are finally behind him it will be very interesting in this Giro. I'll concede the health issues could be age related (advancing age could affect immunity under stress?). We will see.

Tomorrow is an excellent opportunity for Wiggins to take time on his opponents, the climb suits him very much. On the other hand if Wiggins get dropped on the slope then his chance of winning Giro is close to zero, but I don't think that will happen tomorrow.
