Julen Goikoetxea today looking down from heaven, thinking, "Why did I leave this sport and this world?". I remember him today, the day one of his big U23 opponents, Benat Intxausti, finally arrived in the top categories of cycling.

Rest in peace.

In general, interesting stage. Already "Mission accomplished" for Lotto in this Giro. Roads seemed to be terribly slippery.

Kelderman has to be the favourite for white after today. The only Blanco rider to follow the Nibali/Scarponi attack on the penultimate climb. Very impressive by the whippersnapper.

Haha :D ....

But we can label him as TGWK or Keldermerckx?

He's al ready labeled him TAWK
The Awesome Wilco Kelderman

Also, I have a strong suspicion TAWK is very good in rain. It also rained in the queen stage in Romandie where he climbed so well....

Bodes well for the TT though! He's does best in rain and technical TT's, so tomorrow he should put in an excellent performance! But we'll see, with the exception of last years Dauphine he has performed best in shorter TT's. He should be the best of the youngesters though.

Yes, the kid has been overhyped to no end, but to overcome a crash and be this good in a few days, that bodes well for his recovery. Gesink recently looks like an old man on the bike, Kelderman seems like he doesn't suffer at all.

Fantastic win for Hansen.
These type of hard men can thrive in these conditions.

Took a while to get action moving, a little bit too much comedy for my liking, but the good news are the gaps here and there.

Lets hope all the main players wants to continue to try and win the race.

today they could have destroyed wiggins. 5 minutes at least
for the most time they were cowards
only killer woke them up

vini fantini's tactics were unbearable today. sending taborre instead of putting him to chase the breakaway was epic fail

in my opinion in this moment, the giro is open for everybody. caruso, di luca, pellizotti can win it
wiggo was like ricco said un morto in bici today.rarely i've seen something like this

it was a good finale but it could have been really epic

Sky really blew it. Losing one man, Wiggins, is just some tough luck, but keeping both Henao and Duran Duran back is foolish.

Your the fool only way Wiggo will lose the Giro is if he is hurt by the crash, It's well known Wiggo was the 2nd best climber in the Tour. I also think Wiggo can do damage in the MTT.

How is he gonna do well in the MTT if he got dropped by 25 riders on a small hill today?

He was al ready dropped before the descent.

The Killer took bonus seconds off his own team mate and Vini ****ed up massively.

Wiggins just ruined Uran's chances.

... & henao's chances as well. I'm having flashback images of the 2011 Vueta with Sky's "tactics" ruining the overall title just to "please" Wiggo Divo...

Wiggo's left knee seems to be the problem, I think (from looking at the TV though) :D

I doubt it, he fell on his right side, and his right elbow was bleeding. There was something flapping around near his left knee, but I don't know if it was from the crash (don't go making any insinuations again Hitch:p).

Maybe they will get mad and forget to help Sir W in the mountains ;)

I'm not sure where peeople get the idea that Wiggins losing time today is no big deal because the TT is tomorrow. The time he will make up is the time he was supposed to have in the bank for when he gets dropped in the mountains. If you don't think he lost the Giro today then you are fooling yourself.

I'm no Wiggins fan, but I think a lot of us look @ the time wiggins won over Nibali by in the tour last year, consider his alledged climbing improvements, and think that it's possible he could have several minutes on Nibali by the end. In this case, a 1:30 loss is important, but does not spell the end. I think if Wiggins isn't hurt, and still is determined to get the result here, it's still wide open between the top 3 favorites.

Totally agree with the whole post, and especially the bolded.

Would have been the most epic Danilo win :(

I dare say his good climbing could be due to the training he did prior to romandie and losing a bit more weight.

90% rain probability for tomorrow's TT. Wiggins may have some more difficulty making a big gap, as the ITT is technical. Anyway, hope he is ok.

Today, the rain didn't seem enough to clean the road. That explains the cadute.
