If that weather prediction holds Wiggins is going to be the winner of the giro today. Unless Nibali has improved his tt at froome levels then he is going to lose 5 minutes. Hejsedal I don't think was that good ever either. It's one thing being the good gt tter vs Joaquim Rodriguez. Another vs Wiggins.

Wiggins may not perform as expected. Even so, time gaps amongst the top 10 will be big.

Cataldo finishes pretty close to Sergent, so obviously back in decent shape now.

Also a good clue to remember, that Sky tend to pace themselves to come home well. Cataldo lost nearly all the time in the first section and matched Sergent on the rest, and Sergent has destroyed Belkov on the rest.

he gained a whole second on the last climb.

Thing is though, Wiggins is still completely unproven this year. What has he done to show that he is in shape other than boast about his numbers?

Of course, if he is in shape, with the time gaps we're seeing, and helped even by Nibali/ Hesjedal taking the worst of the weather, this could be horrendous for any GC contender not named Wiggins.

Yes, like I said, he more or less matched Sergent, after losing plenty on the first leg.

I would have expected him to haul himself up the last km a fair bit faster than Sergent.

He doesn't really have anything to ride for. Only points I was taking from it were -

a) He's not completely stuffed anymore.
b) He rode the 2nd half comparatively quicker, which matches standard Sky tactic from last year, so is a good reminder of what to expect.

Durbridge pacing himself well, he only lost 10 seconds to Dowsett between first and second check

EDIT: it's back. Dowsett lost 17 seconds to sergent on the final climb. beats him by 2:00 at the line.

Standing talking to Dave Brailsford and Tim Kerrison at the start of TT, rain seems an hour away which is when Bradley Wiggins starts.
