Delighted for Dowsett. Sky have probably cost Henao a podium spot at the very least by making him wait yesterday. Wiggins' form isn't good enough. Last year he would have probably won by 1:30.

What a fantastic time trial that was btw. I can't understand why people don't like even the really long ones but each to his own I guess.

Evans said post stage that he was very happy with where he is on GC but said the later riders had some unfavourable wind conditions in comparison to riders earlier on.

Phinney is sick not in good shape, Nibali much better TTer than Ryder until proven otherwise. My outside pick is Alex Dowsett

Congrats. Great call.

I called the same thing, we even have a debate about gap between Nibali and Wiggins, two minutes did not come into reality:D

It is possible but need more conformation.

The right call yesterday, for the team, would have been to have just Uran helping Sir Wiggo.

The only spin to put on this which works for Wiggins is that he has indeed been ill and is not fully over it, but on the way.

Having said that, I wouldn't be shocked if he gave away a minute in the corners - his 75 yard coasts in and nearly stopping on the apex was bloody awful.

Still, regardless, the middle time sector, and the final climb, show he doesn't have the wattage figures he's claimed, being beaten by Dowsett and Evans in each respectively.

If he is a little ill, and can recover to 2012 form, then the stages remain to take time, but he needs to stop descending like a coward. I was willing to allow that if he thought his worst risk of losing the race was a crash, but now it's clear his legs aren't super either.

He isn't ill. Sky have denied that.

November and December. That's when the grand tours are won and lost and Wiggins didn't put the work in!

What Sky has said is less than irrelevant.

"Yes, Wiggins is ill but hoping to feel better in 3 days time, so get your attacks in now boys"

In any case I was hypothesizing an excuse, not saying what I necessarily believe to be the case.

Today and yesterday were further examples of Wiggins ****ing time away in descents. His legs do not seem to be good, but they are far better than you were claiming earlier in the week to still come up with a stage winning ride (he'd have been on Dowsett's time without the puncture, and a long way ahead if he didn't descend like a little girl, neither of which are to do with his legs).

Definitely. Henao has looked very strong this season (Uran hasn't but has looked pretty good so far this Giro) and it's a real shame for him what Wiggins and Sky did yesterday. On the other hand, this performance is seriously encouraging for his future GT potential.

Wiggins won't finish in the top 10 in this form and with the stages left to come.
