TBH, I´d also like a race in rather bad conditions, but if I remind correctly, almost every other year, bad conditions were supposed to take place, and mostly, it wasn´t bad then in the race. Often there were rumours like "snow on Turchino, maybe unable to pass" or so. And it wasn´t half as bad afterwards.

Seems like we always hear that!

What is the final word on Gerrans? If he didn't have this fitness cloud over his head I would find it difficult not to consider him. Given it seems most of us expect some sort of smallish 5-15 group coming to the finish I do not think there will be a clear sprint winner amongst them. Talking sans-Sagan of course who will more than likely be there thus win.

I think San Remo in general is so hard to predict. This year, Sagan is clear favourite, maybe (but only almost) as Lance was for Tour 2002, Csncellara for Roubaix 2010, Gilbert for LBL 2011, it´s not so often we have a clear favourite. However, so much can happen in this finale.

It will be a games for seconds, on Poggio, after Poggio, into San Remo. Slippery roads make it even tighter.

Sagan doesn´t even have really big pressure, being still only 23 and having ridden so impressive already also this season.

No doubt, this will be a great race, whatever happens.

Seriously, I can't understand the posts like '... anyone but Sagan'. Give the guy a break. He has not won any monument so far, yet he has many wins and he definately deserves to win one. Everyone says he has many monuments to win his carreer, so it wouldn't matter if he didn't win the following one. With the saying 'anyone but sagan' classic after classic, year after year, than after some years of racing and wining, he would have no monument win and everybody would say how he always fails on big events, or something like gesing or blanko style, how he'd wasted his talent, ...

Yeah, I agree with this. I don't really understand the grudge against Sagan. He's not your usual sprinter type, he's actually quite entertaining. And of course he's one of the most talented riders ever.

Yeah, but it's not like me rooting for or against any specific rider actually impacts the race, so we have to take it however it happens anyway. ;)

Any weather update for today?

Anyone got a link to a good livestream? Doesn't have to be in English but if it's at least 360p that'd be a positive. And a start time on Central Europe time wouldn't hurt. I can figure out what time it starts here Down Under off that. Cheers

Edit: Don't worry found them way back in the thread. I'm guessing it starts soon but the race won't be streamed for ages...great. The times on page 30 suggest I will be up at 5am in the morning waiting for a stream. AWESOME!

This is how the sky looks like in Milano right now:
o8f2vk.jpg

Light rain, 4 degrees. Chances of snow have been downgraded, but not excluded. It's gonna be around 1-2 degrees from Pavia to Passo del Turchino, then warmer towards the end.

Don't know if it's talked to be like this every year, but we're not used to have such cold days in mid march.

Allthough i havent said anything like this on here before I understand why people say it.
We can all see him dominating the next years on pretty much every terrain and with a sprint like he has all he has to do is follow the attack. I can't blame him for bbeing extremely talented though, but Personally I don't like dominance. The weird thing is he hasn't won a single big classic/monument yet and some of us including me allready hope he doesn't win.

That's not really fair toward the guy. Yet I till hope omeone else wins today, because that means we will have a suprise winner.

Edit: typing on an ipad sucks.. Really.

Cheers. I noticed that info back a few pages on page no.30. Its gonna be a long night for me waiting for this. Livestream isn't as late as I thought then around midnight my time. I thought it might be closer to sunrise.

I don´t think weather will make such a huge difference. The best guys are in front, whether it is 5 or 35 degree Celsius.

Muscular guys like Hushovd and skinny guys like Nibali love the cold, for example. Though I admit the combination of 298 km and ugly conditions might cause troubles for some riders, some adapt better, some worse.

Maksim Belkov, Filippo Fortin, Matteo Montaguti, Diego Rosa, Lars Bak & Pablo Lastras escaped and have 4 minutes

Turchino might be abandoned today because of the snowfall...

I don't think they will abandon it just neutralize the racing when they get to it.
