the sure thing is that they will go full gas up le manie. otherwise the pure sprinters can easily win this

Unless if someone makes the race really hard i shall say Cav, Sagan, Greipel or Goss are the big favourites now.

So the pictures are spot on? It's snowing pretty heavy (or moderately by European standards) and they've cut part of the race out?

Can we have another poll on who will win now? This has got to change the predictions on who will win. Sure Sagan is a good rider in crap weather, but he isn't alone. Hushovd and Cancellara just went up a notch in my book.

How will they even be able to keep the same gap? A break of only 6 riders will obviously be able to get on and off the busses quicker than the entire peloton. Will the break have to wait at the new starting point for the rest of the riders to arrive and then ride off and after about 11-12 minutes, they start everyone else?

:D

Your third sentence is the right one. :)

I just LOLed, imagining the car race within the bike race, through the Italian march snow. I think that would cause the next Italian cycling death by a rally after Ballerini.

It was not possible to race over there. Neutralization was the only reasonable solution.

But isn't it possible to ride over there? Or go around the mountain somehow?

What's not reasonable is that such a big race didn't have an alternative route planned in advance.

Thanks, this should be interesting for both the break and the peloton. Who knows what kind of legs anyone will have after sitting around for this long?

the uphill section could be ridden. but not the downhill, everyboby would fall off their bikes.

the only solution would be close the autoroute to cars and ride on that :D :p

Cassani says it was not possible to race over Turchino, even with snow plow tractors, it was snowing too hard.
