Did anyone seriously expect Ciolek to take turns in a group with Cancellara and Sagan? He did what he had to do. Was he the best, of course not. But that's why he was able to do what he did. And it's not like Sagan hasn't done this before. It's just that he's starting to get called out on it (i.e. Cancellara saying he won't ride with Sagan anymore).

Cancellara and Sagan should've made Ciolek work. They looked at each other instead of who else was there.

Moser was the problem in these tactics. Sagan worked too much without having to do it anyway.

Not as surprising as it might seem. I remember a few years ago Cancellara almost won MSR in a sprint as well. He's pretty fast and after a monument he usually has a bit more left than others, allowing for a nasty sprint. It's just not good enough to lead him to a win it would seem.

Cancellara didn't work at all, he wasn't going to drag Sagan to victory, he said that before. And what was Sagan going to do? Let Stannard coast to victory? Everyone did what they had to, Ciolek was just the one that got the best in the end. It easily could have gone to Sagan or Cancellara, it was so close it's hard to fault anyone.

Very happy for Ciolek. I almost forgot about him, after a couple of lackluster years. Maybe he is the talent they used to say he was. Seems everybody in the front group forgot how fast he is too. Or they just didn't recognize him in that weird kit..
