The pros needs to go much harder earlier than the u23s to get rid of the heavy guys. Group riding for 220km will not work.

It's not about leeway it's about power up the Via Salviati for example. If he has 3 bike lenghs somewhere he is gone..

Stybar could be a good choice actually, decent sprint from a select group and he seems to have some strength in his legs.

Unless the climbers absolutely go ballistic, I'm becoming more and more convinced this will be won by Fabian, Sagan, or Stybar.

Stybar seems a great outside bet. After his PR and Eneco dominance, he's proven (to me at least) he has what it takes. I'd bet he'll welcome the weather as well (2x CX champ after all!).

Anyone know if there has there ever been a multi-discipline (MTB or CX & road) men's world champ (both earned in senior/pro career)? Time between victories?

both, but I think it's unlikely Mollema has the form though. Gesink might finish top 10 but not more then that
