This is the time when you feel ashamed being italian. Morons.

Blame the British. Seems only fair. There are enough visiting based on the flags I've seen on tv :p

This has happened before at multiple worlds.

You can tell they have no taste. Katusha bikes? So they lacked taste in what they stole...Canyon, I say good luck to them.

Blame the visitors dude. Not your own. Works like a charm. :D

Oh and the race. My picks, Cancellara, Sagan, Valverde and Nibali.

Outside chances...maybe Purito. Don't know about Gilbert anymore. If it rains I don't know about Valverde. If it rains Nibali's chances go through the roof.

I want Nibali to win!! :)

I am surprised they don't blame the Gypsies. This stealing bikes is becoming a tradition these days. Sad even if they took tasteless bikes. As far as Sunday, I hope my French team's effort will pay better than what they did in the under 23 race. With all their attacks and nothing to show at the end. I loved that the kept their words to make the race exciting, but I think we need some results for the moral.

I must confessed I was hesitant about the chances of Cancellara & Sagan for this parcours -but after watching the U23 & Women's RR, there is no doubt in my mind they are the main favorites. I'd throw some rouleurs in the mix-the likes of Voecker, EBH, Gilbert, Valverde-even LuLu Sanchez-damn-GESINK if he bothers performing like he did in Canada...I mean-sounds crazy to name Iglinsky & costa, regardless their weak teams?

Uran, Atapuma & Betancur*(pending form) as far as my compatriots go- Perhaps Nairito can do some serious damage on the climbs, but then he'll be brought back on the flats.....

Since when?

Dauphine stage he won, he was great on the descent of Col de Joux Plane, that's where he earned his reputation. He also won Pais Vasco because of superior bike handling skills in the TT.

Evans and Nibali were attacking on the descent and he didn't lose any time to them, IIRC

Yeah, Nibali even lost 9 minutes to him. That was quite the descend.

okay, maybe not Nibali :p

Evans did though, I'm sure.

It's true that he lost only a few seconds to Evans, but he was racing against Sky, not Quintana. Evans attacked on top of the climb but was closed down quickly by Sky, who then rode a moderate pace not taking any risks because Quintana was no threat whatsoever ofcourse. A few k later Cadel attacked again and went full gas till the finish line.

So yeah, overall Quintana barely lost any time, but a lot had to do with the GC battle (although it was hardly a battle at that point) going on behind.

Do you think the French will start out riding for Voeckler? If so, might they help the Italians and Brits to drive a hard pace. Was surprised to see Gaudin not selected, injured?

I'll be cheering you on. France is my 'second' country:)

It is definitely becoming a tradition. If you're going to flog something, I say go for something good...Cannondale, Colnago, maybe a Specialized bike. Pozzato's Merida looks pretty sweet too with it's current paint job.

The French U23 men did a good job making the race exciting. Is Chavanel racing? He'd be my pick. Voeckler...yeah, I still don't get why people are throwing Tommy's name around. Maybe 2011 Tommy, but not 2013 lil Tommy. Chavanel I like based on this year. He throws his hand in, then yeah. Pinot? Maybe...I haven't checked the French team roster. I honestly just planned on watching and seeing who is on the road apart from the favourites.

After seeing how the women's went down, Cancellara and Sagan need to be marked. Not that I think it will matter. These two are literally that dangerous on this parcours and no, the weather will not bother them. The Italian men need to burn a lot of riders early on and make it super selective for the last two laps. They do that and Nibali's chances go up a lot more. I expect to see a lot of riders start pulling out at the 200km mark.

As for talk about LuLu...have people seen his season? No chance. Sorry.

Reading the Gilbert article on this site today, he talked his chances down. Good call IMO. Talked Evans up...I don't agree. When has Evans had form this year that would make him a favourite or a major player relative to his peers? Oh that's right...it's like Mendrisio I was reading. Yeah still a big NO people. He'll put in an effort, but won't set the course alight. 2009 and 2011 Cadel would be very dangerous. Hasn't come close to that form this season.

Valverde 3rd in the Worlds last year, 2nd in AGR and 3rd i LBL this year. He has a superstrong team to back him up. If the course is raced hard, which I presume it will be, he will be up there. Canc and Sagan might be the favorites but I would never count out Valverde, or Nibali, or Gilbert, on this long and hard course.

Chavanel's not racing, decided to focus on the TT instead. Agree with you on Voeckler, just can't see him contending in this one.

The guy on Frances team that really sticks out for me would have to be Barguil. Raced the vuelta and took 2 stages so we know he's got good form at the moment. Only question is that he might be a bit too young and might not have the endurance for such a long hard race. But he would be my wildcard pick.

The favourites as I see them:

***** Sagan
**** Cancellara, Gilbert
*** Nibali, Valverde, J-Rod
** D. Martin, Moreno, Pozzato, Uran
* Stybar, Voeckler, Gesink, Van Avermaet, Costa

Don't know about his reputation, but his descent of Pailheres in this year's TdF was subpar.

So, tomorrow we are looking for someone who can win on the Cauberg, can descend and TT for 5 kilometres. Gasparotto for the win ;)

Nah, Philipke will win this one. Boring.

that wasn't technical at all. you had to pedal on it like crazy.not for him

nairo is a very good descender especially because we see him compared with the other gc guys.
unfortunately no kick for this course, no chance for him

i will cheer for voeckler, valverde and others. nibali would be cool too just because he rode badasz everywhere.i would like that
