Today Rai's Beppe Conti said that Belgium doesn't have much faith on Gilbert and the guys from Omega are gonna support Stybar.

No surprise about Nibali having support from Kazakhistan while Cancellara is in talks with guys from USA's team.

Stybar could be a good choice actually, decent sprint from a select group and he seems to have some strength in his legs.

The more I loook at it, the more I think Scarponi has a chance to hit jackpot here.

The Italians have many cards to play. Ulissi and Visconti are both capable too on this kind of a course if things go their way.

This is a really open WC.

I don't think they can survive such a long day on a bike.
This will be for hard men, especially if it rains.

Visconti has Lombardia results that say he can very much survive a long day on the bike, in the rain.

Im guessing this new Movistar version even more so maybe.

Really, everyone should be thinking Voeckler. The whole team is built around him. The course is perfect for him. He is deliberately playing down his chances and keeping quiet. His form in the build-up has been improving nicely.

He will be the most charismatic and deserving World Champion cycling has had for years.

Admit it, you would love to see 12 months of Tommy in the rainbow jersey.

Oh no. Voeckler in the rainbow jersey would be unbearable.

As you say, he's been quiet, and I hadnt really thought about him - but it would be awesome

Voeckler will have to be very lucky in order to win. Based on pure strength, he has no chance against the likes of Cancellara, Sagan and possibly the Shark on the hills. He has shown almost nothing all year; his TdF was a failure. Ofc his bad TdF might be a result of different season planning though

If Voeckler was trying to keep a low profile, he ruined that approach with his outrageous TT performance recently. I don't think it would be much of a surprise to see him at the sharp end.

well in the vuelta, tour and giro there are stages with as many height meters and climbs as LBL, and they end in complete mass sprints. You simply can't compare it with a GT stage because they race a one-day race far more aggressively, especially on the climbs.

Actually it could be even harder than a LBL, but those super flat 100 kms...mmm :(

Weather will be key here.

EDIT: By the way, it's almost certain it'll rain. And you know what that means :p
