Oh, and the first stage will be split into a short stage and a 15 kms TTT. Both of them in Lienz. (All this is official, I'm just reorganizing the news)
So we have:
stage1a: Lienz - Lienz (road stage)
stage1b: Lienz TTT 15 kms
stage2: Sillian - Vetriolo Terme MTF 220 kms
stage3: Pergine Valsugana - ???
stage4: ??? - ???

Very hard to beat last year's action, but I do like these a/b setups in small stage races (read: over a weekend type thing) to get maximum return from the pros.

What do you think?

Will Team Katusha get a wildcard for Ronde Van Vlaanderen?
Here are Kristoff and Paolini.

Kristoff would work very well together with Cancellara if they were on the same team.

But they are not on the same Team ;)
Kristoff is riding for Katusha, but when they have no Licence?
Will he change the team?
Will Katusha get a Wildcard for the Ronde van Vlaanderen?

Hopefully a team rocks up with a full sprint train to win the first two stages and then DNFs the next day

Will be a battle between Contador and Dombrowski for the overall imo. Contador will obviously come out on top, though.

Dombrowski will try to peak at Giro and then 2nd half in USA PC Challenge. I doubt he'll be in that good shape to challenge for win even without Contador with long season goals ahead.

But hey, I'd love to see that :)

It's just a matter of being a climber, and having somewhat decent form. I'm sure Dombrowski will do well in Oman. Who peaks for that race?

Even so, i'm pretty sure neo pros in their first big pro races are going to be turning up ready to ride rather than rolling around waiting for their season target like a big shot.

Joaquim Rodriguez.
Rodriguez got shelled in the echelons before the climb even started. But nice try.

Gesink's main opponent on the climb was natural climber E. Boasson Hagen.

so whats next?
Finishing the race or how about getting on the startlist.
Pathetic.

Well, since he is yet to finish a GT without collapsing on one stage or another it would be a bit presumptuous to set a very high goal. Also keep in mind that he is swedish so being understated and unassuming is part of the mentality.

Purito was not on form, so it wouldn't have mattered. Your point is moot.

I say he won because he was the only decent climber around, you mention a climber who wasn't around, and my point is moot...

still he peaked for that. he even admitted so himself
Yes, he wanted to win for his father, but he hadn't had the best of winters. If you peak for a race you don't ride it as your first race of the season.

Did the race start on Green Mountain? You're hilarious when it comes to Gesink. Purito was around, but got dropped on the flat because his form was ****. It's pretty damn obvious to me that Gesink was as good in that race as in any other that year and it wouldn't surprise me AT ALL if he starts the 2013 season very strong, either. (and then fails to get a top-5 in the Giro)

My only point was that he didn't need great form to win there, as he was the only climber there. On the actual climb. And no, I don't think he needed great form not to get dropped on the flat along with Purito. And no, I don't think it was obvious he was as good there as anywhere else, as (he said so himself) those were his first few kilometers in the red for the year.

As for the Giro: considering he almost got a top-5 in the Vuelta with less than great form, I'm postponing judgement on that one.

Purito is rarely great in his first race anyway. Last year he was back with the rouleurs.
You're absolutely right, but my point wasn't about Purito at all. 18-Valve introduced him into the discussion.
