Gesink too in P-N. Cant think of much others, T-A is completely star-studded in comparison to P-N.

well to be honest a race without many stars has potential to be great as it is less predictable.

gesink will certainly be one of the favourites being on paper the best climber and one of the best time trialists.

Talking about PN, who should be the favourites?

I know we still don't have parcours but the col de eze ITT and montagne de lure seem pretty much confirmed rumours. And being this PN, this 2 stages + the prologue should be all there is in terms of GC decisive stages.

Since most top guys are skipping it either for TA (Contador, Nibali, froome, evans, scarponi and cunego just to name a few) or for different racing scedules ( Wiggins and Valverde) we will have a very open race.

so who are the favourites?

Costa?
TJVG?
Porte?
Rogers?
Kreuziguer?
Taramae?
Pinot?
Rolland?

Pinot won't be competing.
I'd say Costa, Tejay, Kreuziger, Gesink, and Westra will be the big favorites (of who we know is going or will probably go that is). Tejay showed some pretty good early season form at San Luis, so I think he will do well.

With the Col d'Eze TT, Costa should be in with a bigger chance than Gesink. Costa seems to be quite good at uphill TTs. Of course, if he has last year's legs, there won't be much they can do about Westra. And maybe Talansky will ride? Perfect course for him.

There were rumours that Mallorca had been cut to two race days this year. Anyone seen it confirmed anywhere?

No, if I´m right, it´s even extended to 4 x 1.1 this year. But they nowadays seem to have budget problems every year, so you can never be sure.

Gone are the days when this was a secure five day race.

uran and he could very well win it.

Isn't he peaking for the Ardennes like in 2011? I can't imagine him winning the GC against the guys who really target this race.

last year it was urans first race and he was already one of the best. same for 2011. this yera he will have extra racingdays before it and his base level is very high anyway. even if he's peaking at the classics, he can still win it against such competition

Really? Last year on Mende he got beat by Wiggins, Westra, Leipheimer etc., on a short steep climb. That's pretty crappy for a punchy climber like Uran, you know. I mean, if it was his first race, it's not a problem at all, but no way was he one of the best. Wasn't even in the top 10.

In Mende he finished together with Szmyd, for whom it was the first race of the season too. Still it's just a preparation race for most, you can't say Uran won't be able to win PN this year with some more preparation. Depends on the amount of TT kms.
